Regular Council Meeting
4-18-OS
Page 6
Development Agreement with Panzica Investments and also have an amount here of ?
$9,900 to Lake Business Products for purchase of a Canon copier for the Building
Department-we recommended that for approval.
Historical Society - Mrs. Mills reported Spring cleaning begins at the Historic House this
weekend. We have storm doors to be replaced and general maintenance to be done. The
Horticulture students have remade the old flower beds destroyed by the road and sewer work. A
variety of trees were planted. These trees were planted in memorial of inembers or their family
that have passed away through the Garden Club. The restoration of our 1858 County Map is
being studied. It will be repaired and framed to protect and can be more available for research.
We hosted 80 Mayfield Center 3'-d grade students for a tour of the Historic House. In their very
appreciative thank-you letters, their favorite areas wre the Log Cabin and the School Room. The
artifact most mentioned was the chamber pot. Our May 11 "' meeting has guest speaker Tom
Vince of the Western Reserve Academy, presenting "Lincoln Stops in Ohio." Mrs. Mills
addressed Mayor Rinker and asked, did you read those letters?
Mayor Rinker said no.
Mrs. Mills said you must read them; they are very good for 3'-d graders. They did a good job.
M.A.R.C. - Dr. Parker deferred to Mr. Thomas to report. Mr. Thomas said the M.A.R.C. Board
met on Thursday, Apri17. At that meeting we discussed at length the first-time offering of a
M.A.R.C./Mayfield Village joint sponsorship for Outdoor Spring Flag Football for our 6-81h_
grade students. We were concerned whether or not we would have enough students; we actually
had 60 students wanting to play and we have 56 with 14 players on each team. They have a
practice before their games on Sunday afternoon. It is extremely successful. We are expecting 8
teams next year.
Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Marquardt said no meeting; no report.
Plannin2 & Zonins! - Mr. Marquardt said Planning and Zoning met on Apri14. We have a
couple of items on the agenda. One was final site plan for the Progressive Insurance Claims
Center which was approved by Planning & Zoning. There were actually two items for S.O.M.
Court; one was a parking modification to allow street parking instead of separate parking spaces
as in our code. The other item was to allow the possibility of the use of asphalt as opposed to
concrete on the roadway. Both of these items were approved by Planning & Zoning and were
subsequently approved by Council at the Special Meeting on the 4"'.
Parks & Recreation - Mr. Marrie said the Recreation Board will meet on Wednesday, Apri127.
One of the things they will review is the children's Spring Party and Easter Egg Hunt which was
held Saturday, March 19 which was, as I mentioned earlier, a huge success. We will also review
the Debbie Hudacko scholarships and interviews that are taking place and also cover the program
and facility updates for the Recreation Department.
SPECIAL COIVIMITTEE REPORTS
