Regular Council Minutes
5/16/OS
Page 2
property and I ask for your consideration. The road is currently under construction down there and that
you do give me a pass through so that I can make both right and left-hand turns going in and out of my
driveway. Thanks for your attention.
Council President Buckholtz said thank you.
Mr. Marquardt said, Mr. Buckholtz, I would like to extend that the original plans for the divided
highway south of Highland did include access to most of the driveways. As I see it now, none of the
driveways have access across the median and I think it is a great inconvenience to the people living
south of Highland not to have access. We did accommodate everyone north of Highland with access to
their driveways and I just don't think that it is fair-except for one.
Mr. Rick Christian in the audience stated except for one. I was the only one who was not given access.
Mr. Marquardt said and I think we should seriously reconsider having that divided highway blocking
the access and the convenience and impacting properiy values of those people that live south of
Highland.
Council President Buckholtz said I would like to address that as I addressed it at a previous meeting
and make good on my offer as best as I can-directly to Dr. Stabile, Wanda about that particular length
of road, without getting off on too much detail, there were many drawings of the road it is hard to
reconstruct exactly what was considered when. Mr. Marquardt and I have talked about it and he is
certain that the drawing that he has, the one with the cuts, was the one that we approved as you are.
When I say it and I mention this to you casually that and you asked if it was still an open--have we
made a decision or is it still an open situation and I said no; we haven't made any decision. I need to
temper that with the fact that the contractor has specs and a design in his hand that show no cut-
throughs there so from the standpoint of doing nothing indicates that there would be no pass-throughs;
there would be no cut-throughs. I made a suggestion at a previous meeting that you were not in
attendance but Mr. Marquardt spoke on your behalf that we would go out as a group and I am making
this offer to be coordinated either on the night of Caucus in June-in the absence of Doug Metzung, I
would just naturally throw this to John and perhaps Tom, Chief Dearden as well. I know that safety has
been a concern throughout that area just practicality of not having a turn. It was obvious from the start
that we couldn't have a turn every single driveway. In some cases we tried to make an attempt where 2
drives were close enough together to sort of share a pass-through. Not living in that part of town, I am
not 100% qualified right here, right now, in this room to visualize what it would do that area. I have
relied on information that I have been given, safety information and so forth. So I would like to make
good on that either where I will get in touch with all the Council people and we will decide if it is more
appropriate-we would love to do it on a day-assuming that the Cleveland- weather does come
around, between now and Caucus or the night of Caucus that we take a little jaunt down there and walk
the distance. You are welcome to be there at the time or just allow us to review it with the specialists
and the professionals that we have at our end and make every opporlunity to make this a situation that
everybody can live with.
Dr. Stabile said I would appreciate being notified of when you are going to do that walk-through.
Council President Buckholtz said Donna, please try to encapsulate all of that in a form of---
