Regular Council Minutes
5/16/OS
Page 6
Mr. Marrie arrived at this time (approximately 8:20 p.m.)
Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Marquardt said no report.
Planninlz and Zoning - Mr. Marquardt said Planning and Zoning met on May 2nd and approved
the final landscaping for S.O.M. Court which is Judge Krenzler's development.
Recreation Board - Mr. Marrie said the Board met on April 27. I reported earlier they did an
evaluation on the Spring party and egg hunt for the children which was the biggest ever. Bill
covered the pool update. All staff has been hired. It will open up a full week before the lessons
are finished with the Red Cross-they have changed their lessons-they are a little more
stringent but that is good. The interviews for the Debbie Hudacko scholarship were held on May
10. Elliot Ross, Mary Boyd and Me Stifler did the interviewing. No report on the finalists yet; I
will report it when I get it. On the 4t of July celebration, instead of our root beer floats that Bill
started a while ago (and they did very well-we ran out every year) they are going to do a thing
called Dippin' Dots. (The little bb types of things they used in space.) -
SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS:
2020 Vision Committee - Dr. Parker said the committee met Apri126. The committee reviewed
the survey prepared by City Architecture that will be sent out to various Mayfield Village
businesses to gather their input. Discussion also ensued with various suggestions regarding the
survey. They broke into 3 various discussion groups and each group was addressing an agenda
item. It was a very productive meeting with lots of thoughts and ideas.
Information & Technologv - Mr. Marrie said we have not had a meeting since the last time we
talked. I will be talking to Bill Marquardt and will try to set up meeting for the following week
so we can finish it off about where we are on technology, where we are going with the Civic
Center, with the computers, phone system. Ron Davis from Tech on Call has been working with
us. (All of you have seen his presentation. We may have him come in and do another one-about
where we are going in the future.) He has done a very good job. I think Chief Mohr has been
very involved in it and has done a lot of work in it and I think he has the same confidence that I
have with Ron in this. We will meet, hopefully, the week of May 23rd so by the time the next
meeting comes up, I will have a full report for you.
Council President Buckholtz asked, is Ron equally as knowledgeable on the networking portion?
He has done a great job with the phones-can he carry this on?
Mr. Marrie said he started off with the phones. That was the minor end of his business. He has
not only the expertise of where we are going to go and what we should be doing so we are all
tied together like we talked from the very beginning but he has the technical background to make
sure we are not stepping on our own feet and are not spending money where it should not be
spent. I think he has both ends of it and I think he has done a very, very good job. I need to bring
that to the committee first and then have it discussed there.
