DRAFT
Council6/20/OS
Page 6
use what we have and not buy it. There have been situations where we were able to use
equipment that we had and didn't have to spend the money to buy it. The inventory lists will be
circulated to all department heads. Mr. Marrie stated we definitely need a point-man where all
this is directed to instead of everyone going off on their own. Mr. Marrie further advised that
since the IT projects have started at the Civic Center, all the phone systems have been put in and
we accommodated everybody on the phone system. The new Civic Center is cabled for voice
and data. They have connected with the Fire Deparhnent, where our phone system is located, to
the new Civic Center. The TI lines for voice and Internet access, which was pending last time,
have been installed.
There is a new fire wall installed for protection and all the voice and data connections are at the
new location on Wilson Mills and as Mr. Metzung mentioned earlier, everybody is moved over
there and they are all on the same data systems and everyone is connected and it is all working
together.
Mr. Buckholtz said he wanted to mention that he has begun to compile that list of computer
equipment that the Village had purchased for the Pi Society Program. Some items are in very
good condition. There are several flat-screen monitors and at least two newer PC's that were
built, and advised Mr. Marrie to mention this to Mr. Ron Davis before we purchase anything.
Mr. Buckholtz advised he also put a call into Mr. John Folkman from the school and he hasn't
heard back from him. Mr. Buckholtz said there was a load of equipment that was donated for
teaching purposes, where the children took them apart and put them back together to try to make
the computers work, but they will not be usable now and Mr. Metzung can have them picked up.
Mr. Marrie added that there is a program run by a Mr. Ken Kovach where they take equipment
and revamp them for agencies and if they are fixable, they are given to Non-Profit agencies. Mr.
Buckholtz said these were purchased by the Department of Justice and he said they have to be
used for educational purposes, not non-profit organizations, so that wouldn't work for this.
Mr. Marrie advised they have not set a date yet for the next meeting, but will meet at least once
during the sumrner.
Health Care Task Force - Mrs. Mills advised that there will be a Health Care Task Force
Committee meeting on 6/22/05 at 2:00 PM at the Civic Center for all employees.
No comments from the audience.
Second Reading of Resolution No. 2005-13, entitled; "An emergency resolution declaring it
necessary to levy a tax in excess of the 10-mill limitation for the purpose of providing and
maintaining a new building to house the Village's Police Department and submitting the same to
the electorate of Mayfield Village, Ohio and declaring an emergency." Introduced by Mayor
Rinker and Council as a Whole.
