Regular Council Meeting
1-22-01
Page 6
Finance Committee - Dr_ Parker said he will defer to Mr. Ilacqua for tonight's report.
Mr. Ilacqua said the committee met this evening and recommended approval of items
1-7. He said Mrs. Roman met with the committee to discuss item #6, the copy machine. After
discussion, the committee recommended $18, 745 for this purchase. If anyone has any
questions, he will defer to the memo Mrs. Roman generated this evening. The Committee also
recommended approval of items 8-10. Item #8 authorizes modification number 6 to the URS
Professional Services Agreement. That is an increase from the original amount. A lot of that has
been generated by what the S.O.M. Center Road Widening Committee has undertaken as well as
various other projects that URS Greiner has undertaken. The committee discussed this at length
and voted to recommend this item for approval. Mr. Ilacqua said regarding Item 910, site
assessment of underground storage tanks at Village Hall, in light of Mayor Rinker's comments
about some of the projects related to infrastructure within the Village, he thinks the committee
and those present at the meeting--Mr. Brett and Mr. Metzung--were all on the same page in that
we do need to prepare and plan for these projects fina.ncially and in a very methodical way. We
haven't broken ground on S.O.M. yet. We would like to get that project underway and start to
identify the costs more closely. As we move into that project and move forward into other
projects, understand and discuss exactly where the monies are going to come from as we have in
the past and move forward cautiously on a financial basis. To that end, Finance Director Phil
Brett pointed out at the meeting that we probably will see a budget at the February Council
meeting.
Mr. Hovancsek arrived at this time (approximately 8:33 p.m.)
Hillcrest Council of Councils - Mrs. Cinco said they have a meeting scheduled for February 24.
All Council members have received a notice.
Historical Society - Mrs. Mills said not much work was done at the Historical House during
December. We all received a thank-you note from Jim Plastine who had bypass surgery done; he
is doing very fine. We have started quilting the new raffle quilt.
M.A.R.C. - Mrs. Cinco said M.A.R.C. did not meet in January. The next meeting will be
February 1 ".
Ordinance Review Commattee - Mr. Busa said there was no report.
Planning and Zoning Mrs. Mills said the Commission hasn't had a meeting yet this year.
Recreation Board - Mr. Buckholtz said the Board met last Wednesday. A number of topics
were discussed including: the softball clinic on March 31 and Apri17 and an earlier walk-in
registration for softball and camp--from 7-8 p.m. on February 21. Mr. Buckholtz said he will
have additional details about camp at the next meeting in terms of extended hours. The Boa.rd
discussed the brochures. They felt very strongly about the brochures and the effect that they are
having on the community. Mr. Thomas revealed that Governor's Village will be partially
sponsoring the next 3 Parks & Recreation brochures. This will help defray the cost and it is quite
a bit of money. We won`t go along with advertising per se, but if they want to do some
