Regular Council Meeting <br />9-24-01 Page 3 <br />ja?ys. He will meet with the Middle School principal in October on recreation activities for the <br />6t and 7th graders at the Middle School. Our annual window-painting contest will be held <br />throughout the Village starting in mid-October. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Activities Committee - Mrs. Roman said the Activities Committee met earlier this month and <br />discussed plans for the Tree Lighting Ceremony and the Appreciation Dinner. Since that <br />meeting, there was a meeting regarding the fireworks for next year. We have booked the band <br />and are planning an event that will be pretty much the same as this past year. <br />Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said there was no meeting since his last report. <br />Board of Appeals - The Board met September 18. There was one agenda item: a shed to be <br />placed closer to the property line than permitted by the code. The application was denied by the <br />Board of Appeals. <br />Cemeterv - Mrs. Mills reported that the split rail fence has been taken down by the Service <br />Department. It will be replaced with a wrought iron fence. The Garden Club is still working <br />with weeding, etc. at the Cemetery. <br />Citizen's Advisory Board - Mrs. Cinco said Citizen's Advisory Committee did not meet the <br />month of August. <br />Commission on A in? - Mrs. Roman read the report for Mr. Busa (submitted by Eunice Kalina, <br />Director of Human Services.) (A copy is attached to the minutes.) <br />Drainage & Infrastructure - Mrs. Cinco said the Committee met on September 6. They went <br />over the plans for the Hickory Hill rear yard drainage improvement. This has been passed on to <br />Safety and Service and Finance and is on tonight's agenda to award the bid to Snavely <br />Excavating. <br />Safetv and Service - Mrs. Cinco said they met September 10. Most of the items were discussed <br />at the Caucus and put on the Finance Committee agenda. Discussion was held about painting at <br />the Fire Department (on tonight's agenda), replacement of air packs (this item is to remain on the <br />agenda. They are approximately $2,400 each and we are discussing approximately 2 a year as <br />replacements are needed.) For the Service Deparhnent, crack sealing, fencing and netting for the <br />soccer fields (we discussed cost-sharing plans with other youth organizations that is already in <br />place. We have received $1,600 with another $2,400 committed at this time.) We discussed <br />joining the lst Suburbs Consortium to jointly bid for goods and services (particularly salt) and <br />this was recommended. We also discussed the Hickory Hill Drive drainage & infrastructure <br />proj ect. <br />Finance Committee - Mr. Ilacqua said the Finance Committee met this evening and <br />recommended approval of items: 1, 2(Bill Thomas will be providing us with numbers and
