Regular Council Meeting <br />11-19-01 <br />Page 4 <br />There were no comments. <br />COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT MARQUARDT <br />Council President Marquardt had no comments. <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS <br />Parks & Recreation - Mr. Thomas said that everyone should have gotten the Parks & Recreation <br />Brochure [Winter issue]. Lee Stone had suggested taking the dates off the back cover of the <br />brochure and putting in a full-page ad instead. That would generate $3,000/issue and would <br />bring our cost down substantially. Over 250 children participated in the Super Happy Fun Time <br />on November 8 with four live bands, jousting, 5 t.v. screens (the school picked up the cost on <br />that), Nintendo games, a d.j. and refreshments. We will be planning that again in February or <br />March. There are 20 teams in the Youth MBA (2 more than last year.) <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />9 <br /> <br />Activities Committee - Mrs. Roman reported that the Committee met earlier this month. We will <br />not meet again until February. We discussed plans for the Appreciation Dinner and will be <br />bringing something to Caucus and Finance regarding the expenditures for that. (It will be on the <br />Caucus & Finance Committee agendas.) The Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will be on <br />December 2 at 7 p.m. and the Menorah Lighting on December 9 at 7 p.m. Volunteers are needed. <br />Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said there was no report. <br />Board of Appeals - Mr. Samac said there was no report. <br />Cemeterv - Mrs. Mills said the Horticulture Center students put the cemetery to bed (pulled out <br />the annuals, etc.) <br />Citizen's Advisorv Board - Mrs. Cinco said they held a Candidate's Night on October 30. Over <br />100 residents attended. She expressed thanks to the League of Women's Voters for their <br />assistance in putting on the Candidate's Night. <br />Commission on Aging - Mrs. Roman read the report from Director of Human Services, Eunice <br />Kalina. A copy of the report is attached to the minutes. <br />Drainage & Infrastructure - Mrs. Cinco said there is no report. <br />Safety and Service - Mrs. Cinco said they met on November 12. They discussed the ordinances <br />on tonight's agenda (re fencing, curbside garbage and home occupations.) Lt. Dearden also <br />provided information about the COPS technology grant (also on the agenda.) The Committee <br />discussed the need for more full-tiine manning for Fire. The air packs were discussed. We will <br />budget 2-3 a year until we have 13. They discussed the proposed resolution of support of the
