Regular Council Meeting
1-24-00
Page 8
Mayor Rinker said Eunice has done an exceptional job. As you can see from Mr. Busa's
report, the long-standing activities have been expanded. It is a growing organization.
It is very gratifying to know that this is a fundamental program that so many people
come to depend upon and cherish.
Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to Eunice Kalina as Human Services
Director for a 1-year term.
Mayor Rinker administered oaths of office to Christine Casey, Ruth Petche and Robert
Perna as members of the Commission on Aging for two-year terms.
Communitv Reinvestment Committee
Mr. Brett said in 1992 the Village granted an abatement to Progressive Casualty
Insurance Company and the surrounding neighborhood of Worton Park. The purpose
of the Committee is to periodically go over to the Progressive site in the Worton Park
community to see if there has been any job creation. The responsibility of this .
committee is to ensure that money that the Village invested through the abatement is
getting a return. And in this site, it really getting a rehxrn.
... . . ; F. ' - '
t . . . - :? . . . . . .
Mayor Rinker administered oaths of office to Johri Addams, Jerome Catalano, Jean
Fernandez and. James Smith for 3-year terms.
Ordinance Review Committee
1Vlayor I2inker said the Orclinance Review Committee should be, periodicoy, looking
over our orclinances and kind of gauging the world at large, how it impacts-Mayfield
Village, and looking to those opportunities and for those plaees either to remove citchaic
language or provisions that really don't seem to apply much anymore, that need
improvement, or additions that need to be brought into our code. Having our Building
Coxnmissioner on the Ordinance Review Committee is critical. Mr. Samac has done a
very good job of leading this way. I would like to see an even more proactive :,??
involvement of the community to look through our ordinances. We are an
?k..?,
community. Urban sprawl is something that we deal with all the time. of'tl?e
issues that arise challenge communities to have a vital set of ordinances, to, be able to
respond and anticipate the changes that go on around us. That is tlhie function of
Ordinance;Review- . We;laok to their recommendationkto assist in making sure our
code stays up to par.
Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to Bernie Samac, Building Commissioner,
as a member of the Ordinance Review Committee.
