Council will be considering
various appointments, both for contract positions as well as all our volunteers. I would like to
sound, what I believe is a very optimistic note for the year ahead. Apart from what has been a
long-developing project on S.O.M. Center Road which we think will start in earnest later on this
year, we also have started to review our future. The 2020 Vision group that I talked about a
couple of issues ago in the Voice of the Village is starting to form up and will be a reality--
hopefully as soon as February 1 lth we will be convening something of an organizational meeting.
This is a process that is intended to take part in the next year or two years. It is not something
that is time-driven but I think it is time that we look at issues all across the board--about the
quality of life in Mayfield Village--the things that we like, the things that we feel could be
improved upon, and generally get a good sense of direction and point the way toward the future.
That process will begin this year. Otherwise, I look forward to working with this Council and
working with all the volunteers on whom we rely so very much. Having participation within our
community is essential; it is not just something nice to do, something good to do, it is something
that is very necessary to do. The more that you know, the more that you understand and
participate, the more that we all benefit from it. I congratulate you for your involvement and
look forward to the year ahead.
COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT BUCKHOLTZ
Council President Buckholtz said he would like to thank everyone that is here. In the 7 years
that I have been on Council, this is probably the most number of new faces joining committees
and that is what we want to see. If there are more people that you know that want to get
involved, that is why we put out these chairs and we would like to see them filled for all the
meetings. Thanks for coming.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS
En ing eering- Mr. Hovancsek said we have been working with U.R.S. and reviewing the utilities
and the drainage on the S.O.M. Center project.
Mr. Buckholtz said I notice that poles have already gone up.
