The first order of
business was to elect a Chairman of the Committee: Dr. Parker nominated Mr. Ilacqua; the
Committee voted in favor and Mr. Ilacqua was named Chairman. Dr. Parker turned the report
over to Mr. Ilacqua.
Mr. Ilacqua said the Committee met and discussed a number of items. (See agenda attached.)
All items were discussed and recommended for approval. Re item #2: the net cost to the Village
is nominal--we might even turn a little profit. Re item #4: that amount may seem a little larger
than in previous years; the rate has gone up to $260/member/annually. Progressive bills us on a
monthly basis for those. T'his is a clean wash. Re item #5: Three ads will be in place for the
Parks & Recreation Brochure at $500/ad so we are actually generating a little bit of revenue for
that. We discussed it at length in terms of the number of ads that future editions may have.
Recreation Director Bill Thomas said he will limit to no more than 4 one-half page ads.
Regarding item #6: Donna will give us an update in 6 months as to where we stand on that;
postage fees are going up. Regarding item #7: We will be submitting a letter with our payment
asking them to more promptly service our community (specifically our hydrants.) Regarding
item #8: the total cost of the project is $110,000; we received a Federal Grant that will cover
approximately 70% of that. This is primarily the uncovered expense.
Hillcrest Council of Councils - Mrs. Cinco there was no report.
Historical Society - Mrs. Mills said the first 4 shelf units have been put in place in the storeroom
on the second floor of the historical house. These units will be used to provide storage space for
our artifacts. On September l lth, the anniversary of the New York Trade Center tragedy that
canceled our Ice Cream Social and military memorabilia last year--we will again offer this
tribute to our armed forces but will also include police and fire services in the display. 2002 is
our Quilt Show year: October 11, 12 and 13. This year it will be in memory of Bob VanVliet,
the Society's architect, work crew member and designer of the centerpiece on the embroidery
floral9-patch quilt.
M.A.R.C. - Mrs. Cinco said M.A.R.C. did not meet in January; they will meet February 7.
Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Marquardt said there was no report.
Planning and Zoning - Mrs. Mills said the last meeting was on December 3; the next meeting
will be February 4.
Recreation Board - Mr. Marrie said the Board met January 16. The February Recreation Board meeting will follow between
8 and 9 p.m. The Teen Board is planning their next event on March 1 St at the High School Field
House.
