1-28-02 <br />Page 8 <br />employees whose contracts are subject to the approval would like to know that we are also including <br />them in the discussion so that I could swear them in as well tonight. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All 1, <br />NAYS: None Motion Carried <br />Appointments Confirmed <br />Mayor Rinker administered oaths of office to the following: <br />Stephen Hovancsek <br />Thomas Cappello <br />Engineer <br />Assistant Engineer <br />Mayor Rinker said even though our S.O.M. Center Road widening project has been largely in the <br />hands of URS Corporation, the day-to-day to operations of our community--all of the engineering <br />issues could not be handled but for the involvement of these two men. Mr. Hovancsek has been <br />personally involved in the Village for decades. <br />Mr. Hovancsek said 33 years. <br />Mayor Rinker said Mr. Cappello has been assisting for at least 7-8 years. There are a lot of issues <br />between the storm water and other infrastructure issues that have come to the fore--and you will note <br />that we have an Infrastructure Committee that formed up in the last year or so--these are the kinds of <br />things on a regular basis we look to our engineers to help us understand the problem and ways to <br />solve those problems. The engineering function is a very elemental part of the job. <br />Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to: <br />Philip Brett <br />Director of Finance/Economic Development <br />Mayor Rinker said those of you who have been involved as in my neighborhood with Issue 2, we <br />have made quite a record for the way that we approach Issue 2 funding, and frankly the way the <br />Issue 2 format itself works. We have two issues coming up--the Small Governments Loan--because <br />we are a Village we qualify to be included in the pool of applicants that can be considered. The fact <br />that we are there and the fact that we have two projects pending--both of which are positioned now <br />with some favorable standing--(it ain't over until it's over as they say) but these are the strategies that <br />we try to employ and IVIr. Brett has been very integral in our successes in that regard. <br />Mayor Rinker said the next individual whom we rely for his sage counsel: <br />Joseph Diemert <br />Law Director <br />Mayor Rinker said the Activities Committee contributes to all the events throughout the year, makes <br />Mayfield a fun place to be and adds sparkle and luster to the community. He administered oaths of <br />office to the Activities Committee members present:
