Regular Council Meeting
3-18-02
Page 5
of it will be discussed on Thursday. Another item that was announced: the rezoning request for
Wilson Mills Road was withdrawn by Mr. Schiemann. That is no longer an issue. The next item
was a vote on the expansion of the Special Use Permit for 730 S.O.M. Center Road (Georgian
Center.) That expansion and Special Use Permit were voted on. There were 4 in favor and 2
opposed. As Mayor Rinker mentioned, there will be an additional discussion on cluster home
zoning at the next Workshop on Thursday.
Recreation Board - Mr. Marrie said the Board will meet this Wednesday. We will discuss a
current Recreation survey for community-wide distribution. That will be tied with other Village
services. We will develop a specific business survey to determine their interest in things and
discuss the future development south of Parkview Pool based on the Master Plan session.
Sewer Liaison Committee - Council President Buckholtz said there is no report.
SPECIAL COMMITTEES
S.O.M. Center Road Widening`Committee - Mr. Ilacqua said the S.O.M. Center Road Widening
Committee met March 11. A number of items were discussed: the right-of-way acquisition
process appears to be moving on time; Mr. Bell from Goldberg Companies came and gave us
details on the newest iteration of their plans there (URS.) Basically, they had started with a 105
square foot building, 5 stories tall on 15 acres. Their new sketch is a building of about 110,000
square feet, 4 stories tall. I believe they have a potential tenant willing to take up about 20,000-
30,000 square feet of that. That was a good update and we appreciated them coming in. In
conjunction with that, we also discussed the possibility of some form of drainage or catch basin
in that development as well. URS will take a look at that.
Mr. Metzung said that will be coordinated with the developers' contractor, Chagrin Valley
Engineering.
Mr. Ilacqua said they will see if that is a viable option to help eliminate some of the drainage
issues east of S.O.M. He asked Mr. Metzung if he was missing anything.
IVIr. Metzung said those were the 2 big topics (other than the pole in front of the sign.) It can
only be moved a foot to the south, but it will be moved.
Council President Buckholtz said he read the S.O.M. minutes. The S.O.M. Center Widening
Committee getting involved in something like that is something we hadn't planned for, but he
thinks it was really good to have those people come in and discuss the ingress and egress as to
how it will impact S.O.M. That kind of committee interaction is very beneficial.
Mayor Rinker said going back to the Sewer Liaison Committee, the last word we had was that
we were tentatively approved for Small Governments for a$600,000 grant. We were looking at
a 1.2 million grant so we were basically cut in half--we had estimated the project to be 2.6
million. Currently, we are reworking what the scope of this project is going to be as revised.
Mr. Cappello, Mr. Metzung and Mr. Brett have been looking at that. We will amend the request
