Regular Council Meeting <br />4-22-02 <br />Page 7 <br />compliance received letters making them aware of the law. I don't know that everyone has been <br />Council President Buckholtz said I would normally defer to Mr. Samac who is not here tonight. <br />It is like any ordinance that is about your home or something that is amiss in the Village <br />according to the laws and the rules that are set forth. <br />contacted; I don't know to what extent, but it is an enforcement issue that was brought to our <br />attention so we are responding to it. <br />Mr. Daniels said that would be one of my questions: How do you know if someone is or is not? <br />Do you guys drive up and down looking for commercial plates? <br />Mr. Daniels said I understand that and I see a lot of missed things in the Village--people whose <br />grass is not cut, people who have cars that are rotting out and I would rather see that taken care <br />of rather than a commercial vehicle. Again, I understand to a point, you don't want to see dump <br />trucks or backhoes--no one does. But if I were to have a SUV that had commercial plates on it, <br />what would be the difFerent between that and a van or a minivan that had commercial plates. I <br />don't understand where the Village is coming from on this issue. You really haven't said <br />anything more than commercial vehicles. Who or what were you looking at? <br />Council President Buckholtz said it is pretty well described at this point; it just doesn't say <br />commercial vehicles. Are copies of all ordinances available at Village Hall and on-line? <br />Mrs. Roman said yes. <br />Council President Buckholtz said the codified ordinances can be accessed through the Village <br />website: www.mayfieldvilla e.? com. I could read them to you, but... I don't necessarily <br />disagree with you on all the points, and there are people here who know that; but it is a law. It is <br />something that was brought to our attention to enforce and is our responsibility to make that <br />attempt. <br />Mr. Daniels said I have an understanding that the law that Mayfield Village has has loopholes in <br />it and that is why you are trying to change it. I, as a contractor or anyone in Mayfield Village--I <br />have not received anything stating why the law has to be changed or what it has to be changed to. <br />I think that is not right. If you want to change the law in Mayfield Village, do something <br />different, then all people should be notified of that. Whether you are a contractor or not, you <br />should post some kind of letter out to let people know that this is the problem; do you have a <br />problem on it; let's vote on it--before it is done. Without seeing that, none of us know. I had no <br />idea what the law was and what you want to change it to. I have no idea and don't think any <br />other contractor does either. <br />Dr. Parker said when we discussed it last, the fact that it has commercial plates does not <br />necessarily mean the vehicle is not in compliance. There are other conditions under which that <br />vehicle might be incompliant with the law. Just because you have a vehicle with commercial <br />plates does not mean that it is going to be the object of our law enforcer. <br />Mr. Daniels asked: shouldn't that be something that is put out to all the people in the Village.
