Regular Council Meeting
4-22-02
Page 3
registered for the Greektown Trip to Detroit Casino; 16 are Mayfield Village residents.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS
Activities Committee - Mrs. Roman said the Committee met this past week. We are still looking
for some volunteers for the Mother's Day Pancake Breakfast. We are starting to plan'SOs Night
and activities for the 4th of July celebration (which will be on July 6th.) We didn't set a date for a
future meeting; it will be after the Pancake Breakfast.
Architectural Review Board - Mr. Metzung said Mr. Samac reports that there was no meeting.
Board of Appeals - Mr. Metzung said Mr. Samac said there was a meeting April 16 of which a
height variance and temporary cul-de-sac variance for the Goldberg properties was discussed and
denied.
Cemeterv - Mrs. Mills said the students from the Gates Mills Horticulture Center have been
working at the Cemetery the first Friday of every month. The women from the Historical
Society feed them lunch.
Citizen's Advisory Board - Mr. Ilacqua said the Board met this past month. I was unable to
attend but spoke to Jim Mason. Jim wanted me to convey to Council that a week from tonight
the Superintendent of Mayfield Schools, Dr. Price, will be speaking to the Citizen's Advisory
Committee at 7:15 p.m. Mr. Mason wanted me to convey that to Council. In the future, he
thinks the other items the Committee will be looking at closely will be the Northwest Quadrant
and any residential zones along S.O.M. Center Road.
Commission on Aging - Mrs. Mills reported that the bus trip to the Titanic was very nice. The
Commission on Aging will celebrate their 20th Anniversary on May 18. The party is open to
residents 60 years and over. (The report is attached.)
Drainage & Infrastructure Committee - Mrs. Cinco said Drainage & Infrastructure did not meet
last month. As soon as Mr. Samac returns, we will schedule a meeting to discuss the two items
we are currently discussing. Our budget is $25,000/year. So, until we can get caught up with
our post-projects, then we can get proactive and deal with new projects. We are getting bids and
doing Worton Park.
Safety and Service - Mrs. Cinco said Safety and Service did not meet this month. I attended a
Hillcrest Tech Rescue Team meeting with Chief Mohr (which included 8 communities, their
police and fire chiefs.) They updated the Mayors on what they are doing for our community; it
was a magnificent presentation. We currently give them $2,000/year and they are looking for an
increase to $5,000/year. They are working on a budget and are looking at $17,500 for next year.
Every Mayor spoke up for this group and compared it to S.P.A.N. Many questions were asked
and answered. I hope everyone will look at the video.
