Regular Minutes <br />5-20-02 <br />Page 3 <br />Mr. Thomas said he is fortunate to have resident Jacki Andrzejczyk, a senior at Beaumont who is <br />doing her project REAL, with the Parks & Recreation Department for the past week. Jacki will <br />be with the Fire and Police departments getting an induction of how a Village is run. Mr. <br />Thomas expressed thanks to Jaclci (who was in the audience.) <br />Mr. Thomas said it is 43° and we are trying to sell pool passes for Parkview Pool. He hopes the <br />weather changes soon. We are getting ready for Summer programs. We have about 240 softball <br />participants, 150 campers in Sports 'n More, 50 campers signed up for each session of Teen <br />Adventure Camp and about 50 campers for Junior Camp. Things are going very well right now. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Activities Committee - Mrs. Roman said the Committee met earlier this month. The Pancake <br />Breakfast was successful. The committee is looking forward to the next event: 'SOs Cruise <br />Night. A meeting will be held in early June to finalize plans on that. The concert schedule has <br />been set; copies were included in the Voice of the Village. <br />Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said the Board approved an attached garage addition to <br />a single-family dwelling at the last meeting. <br />Board of Appeals - Mr. Samac said the Board of Appeals met concerning a variance for the <br />height for the Goldberg buildings. That proposal was turned down; they appealed to Council for <br />reconsideration. There will be a Board of Appeals meeting tomorrow. <br />Cemeterv & Historical Societv - Mrs. Mills said a burlap ceiling covering is being applied in the <br />basement. The 1Vlayfield Township Historical Society Education Team is taking a trunk show to <br />Center School to three 3rd grade classes tomorrow. They will be introduced to life in early <br />Mayfield Township. The inventory in fabrics has been completed on a computer. The artifact <br />inventory is in process. We have helped answer several questions on genealogy and have <br />visitors doing library tracing of families. The Garden Club planted perennials at the Historical <br />House and Mayfield Union Cemetery on Friday and Monday. The flowers and plants donated by <br />the Horticulture School amounted to $590 (which they did not charge us for.) A student from the <br />Horticulture School will be working at the Historical House and Cemetery every Monday. Cost <br />will be $7.50/hour to be shared equally by the Village, Cemetery and the House. The annual cost <br />is approximately $100 for each individual donation. There are always Garden Club members <br />there when the young man is working. (We don't get paid.) <br />Citizen's Advisory Board - Mr. Ilacqua said Citizen's Advisory Committee met prior to the <br />election and discussed the Mayfield School levy at length. It was a very productive and positive <br />discussion; he is happy to see that [issue] passed. Other items discussed included yard <br />maintenance, refuse around the house and old cars. People are taking note of yards that are <br />unkept and are wondering how we enforce it, etc. Mr. Ilacqua said he would expect this to come <br />up at our next meeting.
