Regular Minutes
5-20-02
Page 4
Commission on A i?ng - Mrs. Mills read the report from Eunice Kalina, Director of Human
Services (attached.) The 20th Anniversary Party for the COA was held last Saturday; it went
well.
Drainage & Infrastructure - Mrs. Cinco said the committee met May 2 and Mr. Cappello
reviewed the pre-construction meeting with Snavely Construction regarding the swale work at
Hickory Hill. Work will start in a week or so depending on the weather.
Mr. Metzung said it was scheduled to start today; it did not (because of the weather.)
Mrs. Cinco said Mr. Metzung reviewed areas of water pockets at 6621 Ridgebury, 6205 South
Woodlane and 6190 Hemingway. Each of these locations involve adjacent property. Some of
these areas were discussed at Caucus with residents in attendance at those meetings. Two areas
that need swales redefined and brush cleared are 6776 Thornapple and 6933 Wilson Mills.
These appear to be separate jobs and we are getting estimates. The erosion from the creek at 961
Worton Park has caused a severe problem along the garage. If corrective measures aren't taken
in the very near future, the garage foundation will erode to the point of collapse. Several other
areas of the creek at Worton Park are being severely eroded. Repair work in the creek requires
permits from the Corps of Engineers. Our next meeting is scheduled for June 7th at 8:30 a.m. at
the Building Department.
Safet_y and Service - Mrs. Cinco said Safety and Service met on May 13. Manpower for the Fire Department is
going to be on the June Caucus agenda. We discussed the 2002 road program and gave
permission to go out for bid at Caucus. Mr. Metzung has asked to purchase equipment for his
department and is getting bids from the State at this point.
Finance Committee - Mr. Ilacqua said the Committee met this evening. The Committee
recommended Items 1, 2, 3, 4& 5 for approval. [See agenda] (Regarding Item #1, the money
will be provided by the money we put up for the preliminary engineering work for the Upper 40
to URS, (Metroparks has reimbursed us) and we have applied to NatureWorks for a grant.
Regarding Item #2, the cost has increased in the past couple of weeks because there are meter
vaults that need to be replaced along S.O.M. Regarding Item #4 (sale of vehicles), we checked
our ability to sell two of the vehicles to South Euclid with our Law Director and everything is
intact legally. Regarding Item #5, various things that crop up as we continue with the S.O.M.
widening will have to be addressed and these modifications will do that for us. Mr. Ilacqua said
the Item after #5 was deleted and discussed under Item #2.
Council President Buckholtz questioned if the Village is selling the motorcycle (discussed under
Item #4) for more than we paid for it.
Mr. Ilacqua said he believes so.
Hillcrest Council of Councils - Mr. Marrie said there was no meeting.
