Regular Minutes <br />5-20-02 <br />Page 5 <br />M.A.R.C. - Mr. Marrie said they met May 9. Discussion included: starting a chess class <br />beginning September 17 in the Community Room; there will be 2 more weeks of gymnastics and <br />20 people are involved in it. The Gilmour Ice Hockey ended this week. Mr. Weinberg, Director <br />of M.A.R.C. and a teacher, will retire on June 30 from Mayfield. Discussion was held about his <br />continuing to be a consultant rather than an employee of M.A.R.C. The next meeting will be in <br />July. <br />Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Marquardt said there was no meeting. <br />Planning and Zonin? - Mr. Marquardt said the Commission met May 6. There was considerable <br />discussion and comment from the audience regarding the Goldberg property. Most of the <br />discussion was based on the concern about the driveway coming off of Metro Park and the <br />resulting traffic and about the height variance. At the end of the public discussion, the vote was <br />taken. There are two issues; the first issue was a lot split issue. Planning and Zoning voted <br />unanimously for the lot split. The second issue was approval of the site plan for the Goldberg <br />development. The Board voted 4-3 in favor--recommending that site plan for Council. <br />Recreation Board - Mr. Marrie said Recreation met this past Wednesday and discussed the <br />following: the Debbie Hudacko Scholarship recipients; an assembly will be held May 31 at <br />Mayfield High School; the staff gave an update to the Summer programs; Bill Riter (who will <br />co-chair the 2020 Vision Committee) gave an update on the meeting to be held June 6 at 7:30; <br />the dates for 2002 and 2003 were reviewed. Mr. Marrie said the Recreation Board (and mysel <br />and <br />feel strongly that we need to think about some additional baseball fields and recreation areas <br />t0 <br />developments south of the pool. We will present some figures for the June meeting and hope <br />get them into the next budget for review. We are "oversold" for the baseball fields at this time <br />Sewer Liaison Committee - Mr. Buckholtz said there was no report. <br />f) <br />SPECIAL COMMITTEES <br />S.O.M. Center Road Widening Committee - Mr. Ilacqua said the committee will meet May 22 at <br />7 p.m. to receive an update, a scope of the project, specifically where the right-of-way <br />acquisition process stands as well as the various construction phases and what is going on there. <br />He will have a full report at the next Council meeting. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Second Amendment and Third Reading of Ordinance No. 2002- 07; entitled, "An emergency <br />ordinance amending Section 1157.07 relative to parking of commercial vehicles in residential <br />neighborhoods." Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole. (First Reading 3/18/02; <br />Second Reading and amendment 4/22/02.) <br />Council President Buckholtz said he had requested a second amendment and asked Mr. Diemert <br />to explain it.
