Regular Council Meeting
7-15-02
Page 5
Mr. Cappello asked, are you talking about the curb ramps for S.O.M. Center?
Mr. Ilacqua answered yes.
Mr. Cappello said we are looking anywhere from $5-8,000 for budgetary purposes.
Mr. Ilacqua asked, that's it?
Mr. Cappello said yes.
Mr. Ilacqua [continuing with the Finance Committee report] said, Item #11 was recommended
for approval. Item #12 for Parks & Recreation Brochure (strike the words ball diamonds from
the agenda.) That item was discussed and recommended for approval.
Hillcrest Council of Councils - Council President Buckholtz said I already covered that. Thanks
for making me go to that meeting; I enjoyed it.
Historical Societv - Mrs. Mills said the Mayfield Township Historical Society proposes to install
a sprinkler system on the grounds of the Historical House. It is a waste of time and effort and
money not to have adequate watering of the plants. We do not have the personnel to do this.
Our fundraisers will be geared for this project. We have the Ice Cream Social and Military and
Service Memorial, Quilt Show and Turkey Raffle coming up this fall. Please support these
efforts. For the coming Bicentennial beginning March lst, 2003, we will open the schoolhouse
room, Log Cabin and two display rooms. It will appear on the Mayfield Village website with the
accompanying photographs. To protect these displays in the basement, purchase of an
emergency power unit and a spare sump pump will be necessary.
M.A.R.C. - Mr. Marrie reported, the M.A.R.C. meeting was held and they are involved in
instituting a Hockey Instructional [League] from Kindergarten to 2d grade and from 3rd t0 Sth
grade at Gilmour Academy between September 8th and October 13th. They have also developed
a working relationship with Euclid Parks & Recreation which will take the older boys and girls
(from 8 year-olds to 14-years for Hockey.) Also, a new program, Instructional Chess and Chess
Club will be co-sponsored by Mayfield Village and offered on Tuesdays between September 17
and December 2nd for 4th to Sth and 6t" to 8`h graders. Then, there will be an MBA registration for
M.A.R.C. in September. The next meeting will be at the Parkview Pool and it will be held on
August 1 St at 7 p.m.
Ordinance Review Committee- Mr. Marquardt said, Ordinance Review met on July 9 to discuss
legislation--a proposed ordinance for use of tobacco products by minors. This would be, really,
an adoption of the State Code on that. The action item out of that was to look for some other
community that developed an acceptable ticket to ticket minors for this type of thing.
Council President Buckholtz questioned, if I can interrupt, do we have anything on the agenda -
[for] action?
