1
I'
Regular Council Meeting
10-21-02
Page 15
Council President Buckholtz asked, is what you're asking a breakdown of the percentages of y
your customer base and how many people buy the fine wines, how many people? What's your
sales?
Ms. Chiccone said right. Because the emphasis here is there is going to be an expansion of a fine
wine selection which I am wondering if the hard liquor inventory is going down, if it's staying
the same, or if that is increasing as well? We're trying to get an understanding.
Mr. Steigerwald said it has to stay the same. The State tells us what to do.
Ms. Chiccone said so your alcohol mix is going to stay the same?
Mr. Steigerwald said it has to stay the same. It is State controlled.
Ms. Chiccone asked and your beer and wine mix?
Mr. Steigerwald said everything is going to stay the same. It is going to be the same size store.
Mayor Rinker said, may I ask a question. Total sales~lo you ring two different sets of sales
between hard liquor and everything else?
Mr. Steigerwald replied yes.
Mayor Rinker said okay. Out of total sales combining all of those, how do they compare and
contrast? If you can....I mean if you....
Mr. Steigerwald said I never really look at it because I don't even look at the liquor sales because
that is all State...
Mayor Rinker asked, you have no comparison of say the volume of liquor versus the volume of
everything else?
Mr. Steigerwald answered well it's not volume. You are looking at price and the price of liquor
is 100% higher than wine. So, the price of liquor is going to be more.
Ms. Chiccone said no, I am talking about inventory. The shelf space that your hard liquor
takes-is that going to be the same shelf space that will be in this store?
Mr. Steigerwald said right; it will be.
Ms. Chiccone asked do you know what that how much inventory? How many cases? I am just
trying to understand if the mix is going to be the same? Is the mix going to change?
Mr. Steigerwald replied it is going to be the same. It has to be the same. We have to have it that
way.
