Regular Council Meeting
10-21-02
Page 25
1
E
Dr. Parker said I would move that a motion to authorize an expenditure not to exceed $25,000 for the
purchase of a 30 kilowatt emergency generator and associated electrical gas service upgrade and
piping.
Council President Buckholtz said well, okay; I was going to do it to modify the proposal: A motion
to authorize a modified proposal here-would that be?
Mr. Diemert said he made the motion.
Council President Buckholtz and Mr. Diemert said it's fine just the way it is.
Council President Buckholtz asked, any discussion on it? Are we clear on the differences,
Bernie?
Mr. Brett said we want to make sure, Bernie, that that's going to be enough in your view?
Mr. Samac said yes, Mr. President. I believe the 25 should be enough.
Dr. Parker said yes; we discussed it.
Mr. Samac said as I said we're not sure exactly what's going to be involved in re-piping a gas
line or being able to increase the volume and the pressure in the gas line to accommodate the
larger unit. There is a possibility that it might work without doing anything but it's kind of `
doubtful. So if by chance it's going to end up costing any substantial dollars or any dollars over
that amount, we'll be back to see you.
Mr. Riter asked, Mr. President, discussion?
Council President Buckholtz said yes.
Mr. Riter said I think it's important to note that the reason that we're going with the bigger
generator is that in the course of the discussion in Finance, the Mayor's Office, the computers in
Village Hall would not be able to run off the generator that was being proposed. And it was felt
to go with a larger generator we would be able to run these added requirements of the Village.
And it felt like if we were going to do it at this point, we should do it right and spend a few more
dollars. That's the reason that this just changed during committee.
Council President Buckholtz said that makes sense. Thank you, Councilman Riter. Any other
discussion?
There were no comments.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All ~.
NAYS: None Motion Carried _
Expenditure Authorized ~ 1
