Regular Council Meeting
10-21-02
Page 4
I
6
Mr. Riter said thank you, Mr. President. I want to just take a moment and thank the Mayfield
Village Council for the faith they have placed in me this evening. I pledge to work to the best of
my ability with the highest level of integrity for the benefit of the residents of Mayfield Village
in cooperation with the Mayor, Department Heads and my fellow members of Council. I want to
thank my wife, Julie, and our sons, Bob, Joel, Andy and Jack, for supporting my decision to
serve the residents of Mayfield Village as an At Large Councilman. And lastly, I would like to
send my best wishes to former Councilman Carmen Ilacqua and his family. Thank you,
Council President Buckholtz.
Council President Buckholtz said thank you, Bill, nicely done. I'd also like to mention that for
right now if we could just have you fill in on the committees that Carmen was on until we can
see how everything fits together. That would be SOM Widening-but I would ask Mrs. Mills to
chair that committee; and Finance--Dr. Parker, you are chairing that committee or you will chair
that committee and Citizen's Advisory Committee you are already on-but you'll just attend as a
Councilman now.
Mrs. Mills asked, what about Drainage & Infrastructure?
Council President Buckholtz said Drainage & Infrastructure, we'll see about. They don't meet
quite as often. There is some history and background that will need catching up, so we'll see
about that one.
k
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS
Mayor Rinker said I got a call from Police Chief Stevens tonight whose back flared up at the last
minute and Lt. Dearden was already committed to another event tonight (because Pat usually
fills in for him) so his apologies, but the Chief was not able to make it tonight.
Parks & Recreation - Mr. Thomas said just a short, brief [report.} Tonight we have our
championship adult coed softball games. We have 5 nights left for our Men's 18 and Over
League and our last night for our Sunday Over 35 softball league will be on Sunday. That's all I
have to report.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS
Activities Committee -Mayor Rinker said Donna, I'll defer to you.
Mrs. Roman said the Activities Committee has not met. We expect to be meeting the first or
second week in November. Our next event is the Winter Solstice which we do with the
Wetlands Committee and the Holiday Tree Lighting and the Menorah Lighting ceremonies.
Architectural Review Board- Mr. Samac said we had a meeting on October 10. There were 3
additions approved, one dormer. There was one sign item on the agenda to be resubmitted.
_. S
