Regular Council Minutes --
11-18-02
Page 2
Buildin - Mr. Samac said just a little update, Mr. President, on the couple of construction
projects that we have going on~ne being the Altercate project. It is on schedule-perhaps a
little ahead of schedule. The other being the car wash on Wilson Mills next to D.O. Summers-
it probably will be open in about 3 weeks or so.
Fire -Chief Mohr said you may have seen, we received notification from Congressman
LaTourette's office that we did receive that Federal Emergency Management Grant; (the fire
grant.) We got $74,000 that we'll be able to apply towards the air packs that we purchased.
Recreation - Mr. Thomas said on Friday we held our Second Annual Super Happy Fun Time. It
was an event for our 8th through 10th graders. We had about 150 kids participating. It was a fun
event. Great support from the schools. Unfortunately, we were competing with the Harry Potter
movie; we had a tough time competing with him. Anyway, other than that, we probably would
have had 350 kids but they were all at the movies. Secondly, I'm just looking at the notes, but
Councilman Marrie will talk about it but we have 27 teams participating in the MBA Program.
We started out with probably about 15 our first year and we had 130 kids our first year. We are
closing in on about 210 kids. That's all I have to report.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Activities Committee -Mrs. Roman said the Activities Committee members are looking forward
to participating with the Wetlands members with the Winter Solstice (December 21, I believe it
is a Friday.) They are also going to be participating in the Menorah Lighting on November 29
and the Tree Lighting on December 7. Look for information on the marquee.
Mrs. Mills noted the correct date of the Tree Lighting is December 8 and Dr. Parker noted that
December 20th is the Winter Solstice.
Mr. Thomas said there was a mistake (and I apologize for it) in the Winter Brochure. It said
December lst. It is December 8th so the VOV will correct that. (We have a little box. Correct
me if I am wrong, Donna.)
Mrs. Roman said yes we do. The VOV will be coming out, we hope, by Thanksgiving.
Council President Buckholtz said thank you for that comprehensive and concise report.
Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said the Board met on the 14th of this month. We did
approve, actually two additions to one single-family home on Meadowood Drive. That was the
extent of it, Mr. President.
Board of Appeals - Mr. Samac said we had no meeting this past month; therefore no agenda
items. The meeting tomorrow is canceled; there were no agenda items.
