Special Council Meeting
2-24-03
Page 18
Council President Buckholtz said I've always like the house, I mean I just thought I'd----
Mayor Rinker said anything I've ever heard is that people seemed interested in the house.
Council President Buckholtz said I've always loved the house if I can just throw that out.
Mr. Brett said and he's saying the fagade if I recall correctly in our discussions. It was the farade of
the house that he's most concerned about.
Mayor Rinker said yeah, I think he understands that we'd put it to these uses or whatever----
Dr. Parker said I'd agree with Patsy. I think that after a few years of not being there, you know, I
don't think it's going to matter quite so much to him, although it may very much now.
Mr. Marquardt said but can you get out of it then?
Mayor Rinker said well I think we could work out something that would be mutually agreeable.
Dr. Parker said but this property may be even more important than Issue One funds.
Mrs. Mills said you know what's so ironic about all of this, a long time ago Gus Amendola and I
went down there when Don Ray had their property up for sale and that's when another
administration was here and we were talking to them about purchasing that piece of property-what
if we had that piece of property now? We don't. I mean, it looked like why would you ever want
that? You know, well, it's come back to get us.
Council President Buckholtz said I think that's always the case with real estate.
Mr. Marrie said iYs always about the future. That's what I was saying about the future, looking back
at it I know hindsight is 20/20.
Mrs. Mills said since we're in a position now of creating a park-like scenario all along S.O.M., then I
think it behooves us to continue doing the good job we are doing.
1VIr. Marrie said I totally agree.
Council President Buckholtz said I think we've got the discussion rolling that we want to have and I
don't want to stop it in the big picture. But I'd like to dovetail off of what Councilman Riter brought
up. I think that he actually made a motion, or I thought you suggested making a-
Mr. Riter said I'm going to make a motion after we pass the resolution. We have something on the
table to vote on.
Council President Buckholtz said we do.
Mr. Riter said and after this, I'll make the motion.
