Special Council Meeting
2-24-03
Page 19
Council President Buckholtz said you know I'm sometimes less concerned with procedural matters
in terms of the motion but I wanted to clarify something. It sounded to me like you said after the
Issue One is voted on, or the issue that we have on the table, that you would make a motion to
support the Mayor and the Finance Director to enter into an agreement you had mentioned with the
Falkner--and I was thinking to expand that to say and also upon some modifications of the verbiage
enter into an agreement with Zako as well because that kind of rounds out both properties. The only
thing I was going to ask, kind of, of this body was (and you knowbetter than I, of how to logistically
do this) would it be even more appropriate or does it matter to do that ahead of this resolution?
Mr. Riter said I dori't think it matters. I think we need to show the folks at Issue One that we're very
serious---that Council is doing more than just passing this piece of paper, you know, and keeping our
fingers crossed---
Council President Buckholtz said then let's continue discussion on this.
Mrs. Mills said the discussion should really be this resolution first and then going to say we are very
firm in our beliefs of this project.
Council President Buckholtz said Mr. Finance Director.
Mr: Brett said can we clarify now whether we want to proceed with Zako without the constraints of
? Issue One?
Dr. Parker said I'd lilce to do it without the constraints of Issue One, quite frankly. I don't have a
problem proceeding with the property, but----
Mr. Brett said the difference is how I spend the rest of my week.
Mayor Rinker said if you poll everyono----
Mrs. Cinco said the difference is a total of $150,000-----
Mr. Brett said what I was going to ask is $150,000---
Mr. Marrie said but he said, Phil said it's a longshot, though.
Mayor Rinker said here's what I am hearing, I'm hearing that Council seems disinclined to include
in Issue One and thaYs buttress bolstered by the fact that there's still concern about working out
details with Mr. Zako as to the house. So there are 2 impediments that you see with the Zako
property.
Council President Buckholtz said those are distinct issues---
Mr. Marquardt said wait a minute--explain to me-is the Issue One being applied to the front
portion? Which is currently residential?
