Special Council Meeting
2-24-03
Page 21
? separate issues. But it's likely that if you submit 3 you may get one or 2 or none, but I mean, I
wouldn't place so much emphasis that our hands are tied that we're going to get the Issue 2 on
that project when you've got Falkner that's by the streambed and you've got remediation and
rehabilitation of the Upper 40.
Mayor Rinker said ultimately this Council has the final say on whether or not it wants to accept
the Issue Two monies.
Dr. Parker said if it's not an issue at this point, then that's fine.
Mrs. Cinco said just go for it.
Dr. Parker said we can always decide to turn them down. That's fine. As lorig as they're
separate issues.
Mayor Rinker said now, but the house, again to reiterate in response to Mr. Marrie's request, we
really didn't haggle that issue at all, not to my knowledge. Now maybe in some of the separate
discussions but I mean this is something that Ken Zako indicated that that's what he wanted to
do. The impression that I related to him was my impression was that that was something that
really didn't seem to bother anybody. Every one of the points that you bring up now to me, I
think those are valid considerations. The facts as they area need to be communicated back to
? Ken are say hey look, we're going to have to put some realistic limitations here or else Council
? really isn't going to buy the house. And I think then it's up to him whether he says okay I can
live with this or I can't live with that and whether that's a dealbreaker or not then we'll come
back and we'll decide. I'm more inclined to think that it.won't be. I've got a feeling that we
should be able to build in the kind of flexibility that reflects the kinds of practical concerns that
have been voiced tonight. But not having presented it to him; not having discussed it with him, I
can't say anymore than that. But other than that, this property to me is a home run. He joked it
may be, depending on where home plate is.....
Council President Buckholtz said okay, we have a motion on the table. And I want to either ask
for more discussion pertaining-leYs talk about the issue-the resolution on the table, or vote.
Mr. Marquardt said my question, I'd like a little more explanation on the Upper 40 project.
There's no dollar value, there's no explanation.
Mayor Rinker said oh, I thought there was a dollar value.
Mr. Brett said we're going to hammer that out tomorrow.
Mayor Rinker said it's what a 1.1, 1.2 million---- ?
Mr. Brett said we've scaled back to like 975 but then they threw in the Wetlands at 140 so we're
back around a million.
,
