Regular Council Meeting
3-17-03
Page 4
Mr. Brett said to call him with questions or submit them in writing or wait until the 31St,
whatever your pleasure.
Re S.O.M. Widening - Mr. Marquardt said I thought I'd bring this up now since we'll be having
an Executive Session-I received an offer tonight that might bear some consideration regarding
S.O.M. widening and the closing of S.O.M.
• Mr. Costanzo has offered a portion of his facility as an outpost safety facility if we wish
to use it during that period-if we wanted to put fire trucks or ambulances there and set it
up as an outpost facility there to cover that portion of town-particularly since the pool is
open.
Council President Buckholtz and Mayor Rinker said interesting.
Council President Buckholtz said very interesting offer; let's at least sit down and send him a
thank-you letter and see if we can put something together on that.
Police
Lt. Dearden said the 3 new police cruisers have arrived. We have started changing them
over. We anticipate that the 3 would be completed by the end of April at which time we
would ask for authorization to advertise for bids on the used vehicles. We would
probably also include in that offer a couple of vehicles that we've taken title to through
forfeitures that we have determined may not be suitable for our needs.
The memorial service for former Police Chief Bill Shortle is being held at Whitehaven
Cemetery this Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Mausoleum area. Mrs. Mills asked and Lt.
Dearden confirmed that the flag will be put at half mast.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS
Activities Committee - Mayor Rinker said we just received word from Dale Schiavoni at
O.D.O.T. that the southerly underpass has been approved by the Feds-federal funding-so
that's good news-that means both underpasses.
Mrs. Roman said the date for 50's Night will now be June 7th so 50'S Night can now be held
before the road is closed. The Activities committee will be meeting next week to finalize the
concert schedule. Then we'll be meeting in April sometime before the Pancake Breakfast. If
anyone has any particular bands in mind that they'd like to hear at the Music on the Green
concert, please let us know.
Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said we had no meeting since our last Council meeting.
Board of Appeals - Mr. Samac said we had a meeting on the 18th of February and we addressed
an additional sign for the Mt. Vernon property; that's at the corner of Beta Drive. and S.O.M.
Center Road. An additional ground sign was approved for the S.O.M. Center area also.
