Public Hearing
4-21-03
Page 8
Caucus meeting or at anytime or a S.O.M. Center Widening. Councilwoman Mills just pointed
out to me and I'd like everyone to know-we're proud of the fact iYs taken the better part of a
year at least. We've talked about it for longer but iYs definitely taken the better part of the year
that this ordinance was on the table and haggling back and forth until we found common ground
once again on all the minor details that went into it.
Mr. Riter said I just want to make sure that everyone is aware that all this does is create a class.
It doesn't take the opportunity of the residents, and I'm a resident also, to vote on each and every
proposal to rezone any property that an owner would bring forth to be brought into this class. So
it doesn't take any power from the residents, from all of us as residents, it just creates an
opportunity where this class might be appropriate for the majority of the residents to allow it to
be enacted. The work that Council and all the committees put into this zoning class in the Yast
year may never come to fruition. There may never be a single project go forward because the
residents may never allow it. But it was something that made sense to give the residents the
option and that's really why we're all here today. I had heard a couple comments about plans for
this property or that property; it's really you as property owners that are going to come to the
Village with your plans for your property. We don't own any of these properties; all we are
doing is saying that this is something that could make sense for a certain group of our residents at
a certain stage of their lives where they'd like to stay within the community. I just didn't want
anybody to think that anybody has a particular plan for their property. I'm on a residential street.
I'll never put this on my lot, I can guarantee you.
Council President Buckholtz asked, any further comments, questions?
There were none.
Council President Buckholtz requested a motion to adjourn to end the Public Hearing.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to adjourn.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
The public hearing adjourned at 8:35 m.
/.
.---
LLIAM BUCKHOLTZ, COUNCIL SIDENT
?
BRUCE G. RINKER, MAYOR
?
DONNA J. ROM , CLERK OF COUNCIL
