Regular Council Meeting
5-19-03
Page 10
Kinnaird (I guess it was last Friday) where he had several issues about water ponding and I
assured him that we will drain those to the best of our ability along with this project.
Mayor Rinker said and again just to follow up-the other point about West Nile; we've been
very sensitive about that issue all the way around and have worked with the Board of Health. So
in terms of where there are problems, we are trying to troubleshoot those. My understanding
though, in general, any larger body of water is not the specific issue. That doesn't mean that
there aren't questions involving West Nile. But I think what we ought to do is inake sure we've
got a handle on it just exactly what this drainage issue is and we'll find out.
Mr. Marquardt asked, will there be any improvement on the Blueberry Circle drainage?
Mr. Metzung said yes; that improvement will be back on the west side of S.O.M. Center Road in
conjunction with the S.O.M. widening and the Goldberg development.
Mr. Marquardt asked if there is any slowing of the flows?
Mr. Metzung said there is a reduction of the water.
Mayor Rinker said one of the things we had talked about last year specifically in conjunction
with the Goldberg project and with S.O.M. is that where we have an opportunity to utilize west
side storage in order to lessen the flow, diminish the speed and the amount and flow that would
go into Blueberry, that was something specifically that we'd looked at.
Mr. Marquardt said I would like to see some number on that that shows a reduction because I
haven't seen anything to date that shows that there will be any improvement.
Council President Buckholtz said well maybe we can talk to Goldberg and there can be some
inducement; they tend to go hot and cold so inaybe we could get the stormwater management a
higher priority on the list. Thank you for bringing that to our attention.
NEW BUSINESS
Skoda, Minotti Propertv - Consideration mf Anneal - A motion to affirm, reverse or modify the
variances granted by Board of Appeals:
Council President Buckholtz said to explain this so we know exactly what we are voting on here: we
will be voting on a motion and each motion--each of the 5 motions/appeals that were granted--
variances that were granted by the Board of Appeals--and have been appealed by a specific resident
and so our motion will be either to affirm (which is to uphold the Board of Appeals) so a yes vote
would be to agree with the Board of Appeals in granting the variance; a reverse or a no vote would
be to not grant the variance or disagree with the Board of Appeals; or the option is also to modify the
variance and come up with a compromise. That is just to lay out the groundwork for how this
works.
