Regular Council Meeting
5-19-03
Page 14
combine to create what I think really is an opportunity for us to get in there and do things right. We
are committed to make sure that along the north property line next to the ballfield that we will
improve the landscaping that's there in terms of a fence or wall if that's appropriate. I've heard a
comment tonight made whether netting would be appropriate next to home plate there. We look at
the opportunity to redesign the entranceway to Wiley Field from the Skoda parking lot so as to
preclude anyone going through the back yard there. We look at the opportunity to add green
screening in the form of plants, trees and shrubs. I know that there have been discussions expressed
by Council representatives as far as either a wall or fencing along that entire east property line. And
I've already directed the engineers that we have working both on the Wiley project which is going to
take out one of those ballfields by lowering the field by some 5' to work in conjunction with the
engineers on Skoda's site to maximize positive drainage away from all of these properties. We also
think that by the changes we make to Wiley that will make it a softer recreational use in that area,
that there will actually be less of the recreational activities that have been going on to date because
we will be shifting most of our ballgames north where the fields we plan to make south of the pool.
In terms of the landscaping on S.O.M. Center Road, the initial plans that we've had approved
through O.D.O.T. have typically called for maybe 3 trees in someone's front yard. I've already told
Tom Evans who is our landscape designer/engineer for the project to look to ideas that will provide
monnding, if possible, and more dense trees and shrubs along those frontages. Now, to be sure, in
order to do that as effectively as we think the residents will want (if we require going outside of the
right-of-way and going onto private property) which we would not do unless we had your consent,
unless we had your cooperation. So, our intention is to develop these plans, present them to youu, for
you to look at them, study them, see if there are ways that either you can change them if you want
them or if you don't want them. But I can only reiterate that we will do our best to make sure that
this job is done well all the way around. And I am confident that we will be able to do it and I hope
you bear with us.
¦ Preliminary Site Plan Approval for proposed new Progressive building
and garage structure at 300 North Commons Blvd.
Mr. Riter, seconded by Mr. Marrie, made a motion to approve a Preliminary Site Plan Approval for
proposed new Progressive building and garage structure at 300 North Commons Blvd.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any discussion. There were no comments so he
requested a roll call.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Site Plan Approved
¦ Consideration of a Conditional Use Permit (hotel structure) and
office/restaurant development (OMNI Development)

Dr. Parker, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to approve a Conditional Use Permit (hotel
structure) and office/restaurant development (OMNI Development).
