Thank you. <br />Finance Committee - 1VIr. Saponaa-o - We met this evening as well as on May l`. All of the <br />iteins on our agenda were recommended for approval. You will notice that the four ordinances <br />also on our agenda were recoirunended for suspension, meaning they will not go through three <br />readings and will be asked to be put to vote to pass this evening. We will talk about it as we get <br />closer, but just so you know that as well. <br />Safety and Service - 1VIrs. 1Vdarrie - We met on the lst. All of the iteins on the agenda were <br />okayed and passed on to Finance and are on this evening's agenda. <br />OLD,BUSINESS: `: <br />. Second ReadYng of Ordinance No. 2017-04, entitled, "An Emergency Ordinance <br />creating Chapter 1505 of the Codified Ordinances inandating automated external <br />defibrillators in certain institutional facilities and amending the title of part fifteen of the <br />codified Ordinances to be known as the "Fire Prevention and Life Safety Code." <br />Introduced by Mayor Bodnar and Council as a Whole. (First Reading - April 17, 2017) <br />(Fire Department) <br />Council President Saponaro stated, we discussed this at our last meeting and stated that we <br />would put it on for another read. <br />Dr. Parker, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council <br />requiring an Ordinance to be read on three separate occasions. <br />ROLL CALL: AYES: Parker, Mills, Marquardt Motion Carried <br />Marrie, Saponaro, Rules Suspended <br />Williams <br />NAYS: Jerome <br />Dr. Parker, seconded by Mr. Williains, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 2017-04. <br />Council President Saponaro asked, discussion? <br />Chief Carcioppolo stated, I wanted to go over the relevance of this. On May St'", my <br />departinent responded to an incident. Having this in place could potentially have made a <br />difference in the outcome of a cardiac survivor or non-survivor. They responded and the <br />staff was doing CPR but they did not have an automated external defibrillator. By the time <br />my crews arrived on scene and assessed the patient and hooked up our monitor, there was <br />not a shockable rhythin that we could introduce electric stimulant defibrillation to affect a <br />positive change. That is not a typical response for a witnessed arrest which is what this <br />was. A witnessed arrest is when you witness someone go from a normal profusing rhythm
