Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, October 23, 2017
Page 3
Chief Carcioppolo (Fire) - We are at 1,063 calls which is about 110 calls ahead of where we
were last year at this date. I also put in a small grant from the Ohio Division of EMS for I-Pads.
Hopefully we will get those.
Shane McAvinew (Parks and Recreation) -
. Senior Services = Coming up in November we have a trip to the Tara and Buehl
Mansions. The deadline to receive snow applications to opt-in was October 4. We had
over 200 applicants. Seniors have until December 29th to submit an opt-out application to
get reimbursed $75. The next Community Partnership on Aging movie will be on
Wednesday, November lst. The Annual Art Show has concluded. There is also some
very nice artwork that will be displayed in Civic Hall for the next two weeks.
. Parks and Recreation - We held the Halloween Window Decorating Contest. We had a
total of 82 students from Mayfield Middle School, St. Francis, St. Paschal. A total of 54
windows were painted. That is 18 more windows than in any year past. Our top winner
was at Gary Ann's. It is a beautiful pumpkin from a 7th grader from Mayfield Middle
School. Health 360 was in second place from a student from St. Francis. Out of the top
10, St. Francis had 7 places. They did an extraordinary job. We also held the Annual
Halloween party this weekend. It was a great turnout. Over 50 children plus families
were there.
Chief Richard Edelman (Police) - Just a little bit more information to what Mr. Cappello
passed on about the Wilson Mills project. Next week we expect there to be extraordinarily
heavy traffic because the lane closures will have it down to two lanes. I will be putting out some
mass notifications to let people know about that and I will have some information to have Jeff
put on the message board as well. Hopefully I will be able to let people know as early as
possible about the lane closures. I don't know how much good it will do, but I am hopeful we
will be able to ease the traffic flow as much as possible.
Committee Renorts•
Activities Committee - Mr. Jerome - We met on September 19th. We had a couple new
members there. We swore one person in. It was a pretty full room. We discussed Tree
Lighting, the family holiday movie, an up and coming addition to Activities and Rec. We
discussed the upcoming Menorah Lighting and possible changes to Cruise Night and Fourth of
July and possibly the year after doing a Valentine's Day event. We will not be meeting again
until Tuesday, February 6th at 6:45. We will review our holiday events, discussing our Pancake
Breakfast, Memorial Day, Cruise Night and Fourth of July.
Citizen's Advisory - Mrs. Mills - We met in September and discussed the Wilson Mills Road
project, the completion of 271 and also Worton Park. We had a lengthy discussion about our
deer population. Our next meeting will be at the Historical House this coming Monday, October
30th at 7:00.
Drainage & Infrastructure - Mr. Jerome - We met on October 9th. The Committee discussed
and reviewed suggested changes to applications and evaluation forms. In addition, we discussed
