Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, Septeinber 17, 2018
Page 3

Council President Pro Tem Williams asked, discussion?
There was none.
ROLL CALL: AYES:
NAYS:
Comments from Mavor Bodnar
All Motion Carried
None Minutes of September 4, 2018
Meeting Approved as Written
Mayor Bodnar stated, I have a handful of things I would like to bring up this evening. First off,
although they have already gone, I would like to express on behalf of all of us here our thanks to
the Willoughby-Cleveland Elks Lodge 18 for their generous grant to our Fire Department and
also for all of the good work they do in our communities.
Second, I would like to note that last week we had a dedication of our First Responders'
Memorial. It was a great event. Everything turned out perfectly. George was the ultimate
Master of Ceremonies as usual. Our Fire Chief was also there and gave comments. Because of
Chief Carcioppolo, who went to New York City to pick up the large piece of steel that was once
a part of one of the World Trade Center towers, we were able to have this beautiful Memorial.
Congressman Joyce and State Representative Marlene Anielski were also there. It was a great
evening. I know it really took just about every department and everybody in the Village who
helped to put that together. I appreciate everybody's hard. work in making it a great event.
Last week I also went to a Community Partnership on Aging meeting. They noted that they are
having their 40th Amiiversary Celebration in conjunction with the Chili Cook-Off. It is going to
be on Saturday, November lOth at the Hilton Garden Inn starting at 4:30. We are getting some
tables for that event. If anybody here is interested in attending, please let me, Diane or Debbie
Thomas know.
Next, I would like to note that we have hired a new Economic Development Manager. His name
is John Marquart. He has extensive public and private sector experience in economic
development beginning a long time ago with his work with Midtown Cleveland. He is set to
begin on the 26th of September. He is not generally going to come to every Council meeting but
we are going to try to get him to a Council meeting either in October or November so that
everyone can meet him and get to know him a little bit better.
Now, for the thing I have been waiting to do and am very happy to do is issue a Proclamation of
Appreciation. If I can have the President of the Garden Club, Helen Keating come up and if I
could also have Mary Salomon come up and I will read you your Proclamation.
