Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, October 15, 2018 <br />Page 6 <br />Ms. Wolgarnuth stated, thanks. <br />Council President Saponaro stated, any questions on that? Please everyone do this. \Ye really <br />need eveiyone's input. <br />Chief Eugene Carcioppolo (Fire) - Just a couple things. We are 95 calls ahead of where we <br />were last year as of yesterday. We had 1123 calls for service. Last week was Fire Prevention <br />Week so we had the fire safety trailer at Center School and did fire safety at Progressive Campus <br />I and II last week. Earlier this year I nominated Assistant Chief Girbino for an award tluough <br />the State Fire Marshal's office and the Fire Council reviews all the applicatioils and he was <br />riominated and received the Lifetime Distinguished Service Award on September 20"' by the <br />Lieutenant Governor of the State of Ohio and the State Fire Marshal. <br />Council President Saponaro asked, do we have pictures? <br />Chief Carcioppolo replied, I will try to get all of that together. I believe the Mayor wanted to <br />make a Proclamation for him. It's a big achievement. I just thought I would tell everyone. <br />Council President Saponaro stated, thank you. <br />Shane IVIcAvinew (Parks and Recreation) <br />. Parks and Recreation Board - We had our window decorating contest. We had 47 <br />participants sign up for it throughout the community. They have up through Wednesday <br />afternoon to complete. Myself and the judging crew will be going around on Thursday <br />awarding 1 St and 2°d Place. We have one in this building this year again, one at the Fire <br />Station and various other locations. It's been a little challenging for them due to the cold, <br />but they are doing their best to get the paint to stick. This Saturday from 1:30-3:00 we <br />will have our annual Halloween Party in this room. <br />. Commission on Aging - The next meeting will be on Thursday, November lst at the <br />Community Room. <br />. Senior Services - We have received over 220 opt-ins. Remind your neighbors. They are <br />past the deadline, but we will still take a few. We are taking reservations for the Holiday <br />Party on December 14"'. Call the Senior Services Center by December.5t". The next trip <br />for the Senior Services is to Oglebay and Wheeling Island Casino. We are also holding <br />our St" Annual Mayfield Art Show on October 21 St at the Mayfield Branch Library. We <br />have an AARP Driver's Safety Course coming up on October 24th and we also have two <br />movies coming up in the month of November, one with the Community Partnership on <br />Aging and the other at Governor's Village. <br />Doug ltletzung (Service) - Thanl< you Council President. I would just like to report that the <br />Service Department completed one of its most anibitious crack sealing programs we have ever <br />done. Of that $22,000 originally budgeted, we expect to get back almost $8,000 froin the grant I <br />fi•om tl?e Count}?.
