Minutes of the Regular, Meeting of Council
Monday, April 16, 2018 Page 15
Dr. Parker stated, let's insert tliat figure theri.
1VIr. Coyne stated, $11,955.
Dr. Parker asked, it's. an amendment then, right? I would make a motion to amend as directed by _
the Law Department. .
Mr. Coyne stated, for clarification, it's an oral motion, so the motion that's reflected on the
agenda is just that: The motion, can be made orally- straight away for the amount. Just change
the. amount. .
Dr. Parker asked, so just make the motion with the new amount7
IVIr. Coyne replied, yes; I would do that. Have the clerk, read the motion back baseci on the
instruction to Dr. Parker who I believe will be the'maker of the rriotion. Mrs. Betsa asked, so we are not amending it, we are just changing the amount?

Mr. Coyne replied, right.
. Motion to approve 2017 Economic Development Incentive grant payment to
MarketResearch.com in the amount of $11,955. (Finance Department)
Dr. Parker, seconded by Mr. Marquardt, made a motion to approve 2017 Economic Development
Incentive grant payment to MarketResearch.com in the amount of $11,955. (Finance
Department)
Council President Pro Tem Williams asked, discussion?
Mr. Wynne stated, MarketResearch.com's income tax collections for 2017 were $78,851. At
30% that results in a preliminary grant number of $23,655. They were sliort by the guaranteed
amount of income tax revenue they are required to generate by $11,700, so we are offsetting that
$23,655 by the $11;700 to come up to a net grant payment of $11,955.
Council President Pro Tem Williams asked, any other discussion?
Dr. Parker. stated, the only thing I would say in terms of the. discussion is maybe if we are
discussing it with thein I am sure tliey will want to know why. I would have no problem with
letting them know that we will revisit it based on their 2018 performance. If they perform really
well and the difference. makes up for it in some way, if you are up for that. We didn't do that in
the M.C.I.C. but it kind of is a blend of the two ideas of either passing it as a whole or giving
them nothing. I ain just saying when we talk to tliem and explain it to them, we might want to
just express that to them if Council is inclined to do that.
