Chief Edelman replied, well this would be- creating a new full-tirne position, Mr. Coyne, I am not sure how we do that. Mr. Coyne stated, it's really. an employment issue. We can iook at it further. But the more important partof tliis will be to have an agreement.with the School District on the SRO position: Chief Edelman stated, and that's in the works. It is beirig developed as. we speak. It should be.:. ready. But as far as creating the new full-time position, we do need to have something: Mr. Coyrie asked, and that would require the budget to be amended as I understand it, right? Mr. Wynne replied,. yes. Once Council approves the additional position that automatically authorizes. the budgeting. Just as an example, if the positiora were filled ori July 1St for the Class C, we don't. know if the ind'ividual's going to be single, married, have a family; children; so worst case scenario, if the position was flled by July.lst, it woulcl add.about $60,000 to this . year's budget. . Chief Edelman asked, so' I guess my-question is do we wait until riext month for the MOU to be approved or is tliat something we can arriend the agenda tonight and have Council approve that? I am.not sure where we are going with that. Mr. Coyne replied, we.need to have an agreement firialized with the School Distr'ict and at the same time a. motiori to amend the budget should be done once we know a little bit more than we do now, I would think. My question for you is : the Memorandum of Uiiderstanding; does that need to be in place now, or do we need to have the SR0 in place now? They don't actually start untiT schools back in session?
