Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council Monday, June 18, 2018
Page 4
area. We submiited signatures frorri neighboring communities, not just Highland Road, but other
communities and developments within.Mayfield Village that have said, no we do not want this. We
didn't go out and get formal entue petition signatures. We stopped that at a point where we realized
that we weren't able to utilize a petition at this point, but we did submit signatures at least from some
segments of the communities saying that tliey are not in favor of this type of development in this
area. :
Council President Saponaro stated, at our last meetirig, and I am-going to call on.departmerit heads
and we wi11do it during our discussion, but from your perspective, none of tlie department heads had
talked about concerns about this in terms. of drainage, in terms of essential services, safety arid things
of that nature. I kriow thaf we had a situation last year wliere we had voted not to allow a
development or potential rezoning to go on the ballot and we wanted those folks to go out there .
because police and fire were very concerned about the gas well, how close it was to the facility that
ttiey wanted to create, there was other drainage issues and so forth. I would like to hear from
Administration, but what are your thoughts on that? -
Mr. DiFranco replied, again certainly on the department head side of things, I am not sure the
. department heads were all questioned whether they were in favor or not in favor on this.
Council President Saponaro stated, it's not really about favor; it's really more about =
Mr. DiFranco stated, how it impacts- Council Presidenf Saponaro stated, yes, is there a concern about it. .: Mr. DiFranco stated,- your questions was you need to hear from the department heads with ariy
` concerns. The department heads, weren't specifically asked these type of questioris. More in
Planning and Zoning I don't think that they looked thoroughly the flooding issue in this area: Now
keep in mind when a developer comes in; they will submit to you what their proposed projection is,
not taking into, full consideration what that property may have hiding there or may be there. ` So
maybe some of these things weren't brought out. and therefore Planni.ng and Zoning moved forward
on it: Keep in mind, Planning and Zoning also had one dissenting member that said tliis is not a good
thing to. go forward with. So there is dissension in Planning and Zoning in and of itself. Your
question is what does Mayfield VilTage residents want here, I.think?
