Minutes of the Regular Meetiilg of Council
Monday, June 18, 2018
PagE 9 . ..
Council Presiderit Saponaro stated, engineering said that tliey would have no impact on it. Very little
impact. We will address this with department heads. If there's concerns, we as Council need to hear, _
hey, we are concerned about these different tliings. In addition to you all being concerned, we are
concerned about it. That makes us sit up and go,. okay. We want.to make sure that we are listening
to everybody before your decision. And you're very true and so is Mr. DiFranco that these folks can
go to the constifuents and they can get it put on the ballbt. You are still in the same situation if it gets
on the ballot. Then .you have to deal witli it in a different: way. It fakes it out of our hands.
Mr. McDowell stated, you would also put the burden of proof on him to show that people actually
want this.
Council President Saponaro stated, I uriderstand that.
Mr. McDowell stated, I tlunk Mr. DiFranco and myself and if you look at the actuallist of residents
that signed the letter I gave you on Friday that rrmost of those signatures are from Highland Road. I
would hope that you as Council would represent us and stand up for the smaller community of .
Mayfield and say, the residents of Highland Road don't really want this and I would hope they could
support us iri that. saying that this isn't necessarily the right fit for this communiiy.
Council. President Saponaro stated; but see, that's the problem. We are not supporting you or not
supportirig you by allowing it on there: We don't. give an endorsement. That's not what we are
charged to do. So if we decide that, you know what, these folks have to go and get sigriatures to put
it on the ballot; it's not as if you can coxrie to Council and you can ask us for an endorsement.tYiat we
don't agree with it. That's not what we're charged to do. It's inappropriate for us to do, it. " Someone
individually may agree or disagree but generally we do not do that as a Council as a Whole. And nor
would you want us to. Because then if I like sorneone I would v,ote for it: If I don't like someone,
I'll vote against it. That doesn't make sense.. We have to be'impartial when if comes to that kind of a
thing; But I certaiiily understand where you're comirig from.. Mr. DiFranco made.that clear as well.
Even though that's not the case here; it's the perception out in the community: What tYiey're going to
look at it as. We do have to take thaf into consideration, so I appreciate your comments very much. .
We will put your letter in the record.
Marv Murphy
816 Hardwood Court
I signed the petition. I• signed Stivo's petition before last month's meeting: And I'm reconsidering
my sigiung. You thinlc he was building a trailer park. It's going to be lovely. High_ end. 26 units.
Pm guessing iiiaybe 60 residents living in tllere. I understand why people are concenied that this is
goiilg to bring a deluge of more developments to the Village. I live in Hanover Woods which is 31
years old this surruner. There's 75 homes in there and we feed out to a little Wilson Mills. Not the
big 41ane, but the little 2 lane Wilsoil Mills. Since that happened_31 years ago; I ain guessing, is the
next developmeiit that happened in liere. SOIvI Court? Maybe 20 years later? ll years ago. So, it's
slow. I'm not very concei-ned. I tiust the Council that there's not going to be a deluge of things. I
thinl: they are goinb to make good decisions. 1 think the bigger proUlem is businesses. Your traffc
