The Village of Mayfield, its Mayor; Council, residents, employers; employees and officials wish to thank Richard Edelman for his many years _of dedicated service. We are proud to offer this Resolution and wish you well as you enjoy retirement with your wife Susan, three children and one grandchild. You will be missed. Council President Saponaro stated, Congratulations. Dr. Parker, seconded by Mr. Schutt, made a motion to adopt Resolution No. 2019-10. ROLL CALL: AYES: All NAYS: None Motion Carried Resolution Adopted Council President Saponaro asked Chief Edelman to return to the table as the Mayor would like to say a few words. Comments froffi 1Vlayor Bodnar Mayor Bodnar stated, when I began my term as Mayor about 3 years ago, I was fairly confident that the Village was being left to me in good hands. The people I have been working with since then have really proven that belief to be true. The fact of the matter is though you don't really think about how much you value someone until it's time to bid farewell. Arid so it is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye and thank you to my friend, to my ally, our Police Chief Rich Edelman. Rich, you are a rare combination of strength and gentleness, maturity and wisdom, sound judgment and quiet good humor. Your concern for the safety of Mayfield Village and the safety of our police officers is unparalleled except maybe by your kindness and compassion. There was never a moment when I doubted your sincerity or good character. In every conversation we have ever had, I knew I could place my trust in you and we could always be candid with each other. Although no community is crime-free, in Mayf'ield Village we trust the competency and professionalism of our police force. We go about our lives knowing that our peace and safety are in good hands, your hands Rich. Although I have not expressed it very often or very well, I will forever be thankful for your friendship and your leadership and for the twinkle in your quiet eyes and your kind smile. Although I am sad to see you leaving as our Chief, I am very glad Mayfield Village is still your home and I know that you have left the department a stronger and better place and passed the baton to very capable leadership. I am happy that while I can no longer call you Chief. I can at least call you neighbor. I am very honored tonigllt to recognize you as a Mayfield Village Outstanding Citizen. Mayor Bodnar presented the award of Outstanding Citizen to Chief Edelman. Chief Edelman stated, Mayor Bodnar, members of Council, thanlc you very much for this recognition. I really appreciate it. But really, this is not about me. This is aUout the men and
