DRAFT <br />Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, May 20, 2019 <br />Page 3 <br />WHEREAS, Progressive has always been an excellent partner and neighbor, supporting the <br />Village on many community initiatives and improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, in 2018, Progressive was placed onto Fortune Magazine's annual list of Best <br />Places to Work; and <br />WHEREAS, on November 15, 2018, Fortune Magazine named Tricia Griffith the 2018 <br />Businessperson of the Year. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that I, Mayor Brenda T. Bodnar, am honored to <br />acknowledge Tricia Griffith for being recognized as one of the most prominent and successful <br />leaders in the business world. On behalf of Council and the residents of Mayfield Village, I <br />thank her for continuing the legacy of success of her predecessors and for her vision for the <br />future. We are privileged to be the home of Progressive Insurance and look forward to many <br />more decades of partnership and collaboration. <br />Mayor Bodnar presented the Proclamation to Mr. McGrath. <br />Comments from Council President Saponaro <br />Council President Saponaro asked Assistant Fire Chief/Fire Marshal Girbino and his wife Debbie <br />to come up and be presented with his Resolution. <br />Resolution No. 2019-42, entitled, "A Resolution thanking Mayfield Village Assistant <br />Fire Chief/Fire Marshal Mike Girbino for over 33 years of dedicated service to Mayfield <br />Village and Congratulating him on his retirement." Introduced by Mayor Bodnar. <br />WHEREAS, Assistant Fire Chief/Fire Marshal Michael Girbino will be retiring from the <br />Mayfield Village Fire Department after faithfully dedicating his life to fire service, improving <br />fire safety, and keeping the citizens of Mayfield Village and the State of Ohio safe for over 33 <br />years; <br />WHEREAS, Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal Girbino began his career in 1986 and has held the <br />ranks of Firefighter, Paramedic, Lieutenant, and, in 2017, was promoted to Assistant Fire <br />Chief/Fire Marshal; <br />WHEREAS, during his career, Assistant Fire Chief/Fire Marshal Girbino created the <br />Department's Fire Prevention Bureau and implemented public safety education programs to <br />d increase awareness of fire safety and prevention; and <br />WHEREAS, Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal Girbino served as a member of the Northeast Ohio <br />Prevention Association since the early 1990s and on its Fxecutive Board since 2009. He was <br />recently asked to serve on the Board of the Building Officials Conferencc of Northeast Ohio as a <br />
