Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, October 21, 2019
Page 3
Comments from Mayor Bodnar
I would just like to thank our friends in Highland Heights, specifically Council Representative
Ann D'Amico with the support of Mayor Brunello. Yesterday we put on a wonderful tea party
fundraiser for the Community Partnership on Aging. It was a very nice afternoon at Stonewater.
As you know, the Community Partnership on Aging benefits our community as well as several
others. So just a shout out to them to thank them for all of their hard work.
Comments from Council President Sanonaro
Thank you, Mayor. I've got a few comments. This evening I want to talk about District 6 Town
Hall Meetings. Representative Robinson who is our District Representative is having a Town
Hall meeting on November IIth at 6:30 at the Gates Mills Community Building. It's a great
opportunity to meet with that Representative from the District to talk about any of the concerns
that you have and see what he can bring back as far as that is concerned.
I also wanted to talk about an upcoming Public Hearing which is scheduled for November 18th.
This public hearing will cover Ordinance No. 2019-17 which is relating to revising the zone map
of Mayfield Village to amend the zoning classifications on land located on SOM Center Road
from its current classification to office -laboratory district. The public hearing will also cover
Ordinance No. 2019-18 and that's also revising the zone map to amend the zoning classification
of land located at 6625 Wilson Mills Road from its current classification to small office building
district. That will be at 6:00. It is a public hearing. You are welcome to come and give your
comments. Later that evening at 7:00, Council will have these Ordinances on for their Third
Read. Just wanted to make sure everyone is aware of that and we encourage you to come.
Lastly, my wife Monica and I had the pleasure of attending one of the seminars that was put on
by the Police Department who have done an excellent job with the support of Administration of
course. We attended the drug forum that was held last Wednesday. Jim Joyner was the guest
speaker. He did an outstanding job. He has offered to come back and put on a program for the
Village. It's an 8 -part program that is educational and just I think would be truly informative
about not only opioids but the drug crisis itself, how to look at this from a different perspective.
It was eye opening for many people and for those of us who have experienced first-hand loved
ones with drug addictions, it was excellent. I would like to work with you on that to make sure
that we can bring Mr. Joyner back and of course with the Administration. That was outstanding.
Kudos Chief, you have done an outstanding job. I know that all of the other forums have been
well received and I know you have one coming up again this Wednesday. I will let you talk
about that in your report. Thank you.
E
