U
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, October 17, 2022
Page 11
done lightly. It wasn't done haphazardly. It was done in the interest of everyone. You may not
feel that way. Again, this is public comment and we really are not here to debate on the subject. If
there are other public comments, we will certainly listen to them, but if not, we do have other items
to get to on our agenda. If you would like to make a comment, can you come up to the podium so
that we can get your name, your address and get your comments into the record?
Peggy Konieczny_
6735 Thornapple Road
I have lived here for almost 40 years. I know Stuart just from the neighborhood. I retired from
the high school last year after 27 years. I have never seen that man do anything that was not
professional. Your comments about this is an open comment section, so our comments mean
nothing? The Villager staff, that means nothing to you, so you're telling us it's wasted breath, we
can just comment all we want but you don't value our opinion or opinions of the staff or students
or all of the e-mails that you received and yet his reputation really has gone down the drain. So,
is that fair to him when you hear from so many people? It's just wrong. And was there a full
investigation? I could see if there was a full investigation and he was found guilty of anything,
but seeing him on the street, I am going to say no. And I've never felt safer anywhere than I have
in Mayfield Village. I think it's a shame that obviously our comments mean nothing. They are
just comments and that's wrong. I still think you should reconsider. I think you should value
adults, former students, students who are there now instead of apparently this little situation that
happened that obviously he's not guilty because he was just reassigned. It makes me really wonder
about the Village. I appreciate the police force. They have been there every step of the way. I
have never felt safer with you guys, the Fire Department and the Village. I wouldn't have three-
quarters of my family living here if it wasn't safe. I wouldn't talk up Mayfield Village like I have
for 40 years if I didn't appreciate all of the hard work that everybody's done. But this really does
make me think about judgment here. Thank you.
Al Hess
5880 Highland Road
You made a comment earlier about this is not the appropriate agenda. When and where would it
be the appropriate agenda for this?
Ms. Calta stated, if I can clarify. It's not that it's not the appropriate agenda, I just wanted to
clarify what the role of Council is with regard to the matter that you are all speaking on. Council
doesn't have a role in making that decision. So, I just wanted to make clear that everyone
understood that.
I just was curious how and when the people here tonight could have a discussion, an appropriate
discussion with the Mayor or the Chief or whoever?
Ms. Calta replied, the Mayor and the Chief are always open to having discussions and are available
by phone, e-mail, scheduling meetings.
