Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, October 17, 2022
Page 12
So, there's no real meeting that per se so that this could be done in a correct manner? You are
saying at the Council meeting, they don't make the decision?
Ms. Calta replied, correct.
And so, I just wondered if there was an appropriate time or place where —
Ms. Calta replied, there's not another public meeting, if that's what you're asking, to get on an
agenda for. But you can certainly speak to the Chief and the Mayor or whomever would be
available to answer your questions.
Michael Bokovitz
441 Locklie Drive
Highland Heights, Ohio 44143
You said to talk to the Chief. I've listened to the Chief talk tonight blowing us off. I called him.
He wanted nothing to do with it. I went to the Administration knowing they had nothing to do
with that decision just to make sure that I am getting things right. They had nothing to do with it.
So, what you are saying is one man in a small city has the power to do whatever he wants when
he wants without checks and balances. Because we can't meet. This is not the place to talk about
it. That's the way it is. That's a lot of power to ruin and put the lives of 1500 kids, including, next
year I have my son coming up. It's an embarrassment.
Marge Schmidt
849 Beech Hill
44143
I just wanted to say that my family used to live in Mayfield Heights. We specifically moved here
because we knew that it was a better community. I want to say that ever since Stuart left, I have
not seen one police officer at Mayfield High School. I am there for only three hours a day because
I go to Beachwood High School for Excel Tech, but I have not seen one Mayfield Village police
officer, one from Mayfield Village, one from Mayfield Heights, or even a Highland Heights police
officer at our high school. Ever since Stuart left, I feel so unsafe. I feel like, I don't know what's
going on, but I feel so unsafe. Stuart made me feel safe. And he made me feel welcome. And I
felt safe. And every kid in America right now does not feel safe in their schools, okay? After
Uvalde. After Sandy Hook. After Chardon. No one feels safe anymore. After Stuart, I do not feel
safe at Mayfield High School. I am a Senior and I have been with him, my sister has been with
him when she was at Mayfield High School. I have been with him for three years and I have never
felt more safe and I thought, I feel okay to go to school now because Stuart was there. But not
anymore, because I have not seen one cop there. You do not know what's going on. You do not
know what's going to happen within the three hours I am there each day. I just wanted to say that
this doesn't seem like the Police Chief that's doing it, it seems like the Mayor that's doing it.
