Bierman moved to approve the final.plans <br />as submitted this evening in addition to the letter presented by Mr. Robert <br />Goold on Lorain Road at the intersection of Fleharty,?25615 Lorain Road, <br />with the recommendations of the Architectural Board of.Review and with <br />the condition that the developer has agreed not to use tractor trailers. <br />At this point Mr. Goold stated that he could not guarantee that there <br />would never be a tractor trailer delivery, that most deliveries are by <br />20 foot trucks, but there could be an occasional semi delivery from <br />the factory. After some discussion it was decided that 4 employee park- <br />ing spaces in the rear could be used for the turning radius, Mr. Bierman <br />restated his motion. R. Bierman moved to app'rove the final plans as <br />submitted this evening, in addition to the letter presented by Mr. Robert <br />Goold, on Lorain Road at the intersection of ?leharty, 25615 Lorain Road, <br />with the recommendations of the Architectural'!Board of Review with the <br />condition that the developer attempt to contrbl the use of the parking <br />lot in the rear by tractor trailers, seconded'by M. Betts, and unani- <br />mous ly approved. <br />2) Kids "R" Us, 25877 Great Northern Shopping Ceriter <br />Proposal to renovate front elevati:on of retail unit (formerly Designer,Depot). <br />Mr. Ricci, architect, presented plans explaining that they will be using <br />21,000 square feet of the former Designer Depot unit. Alterations con- <br />sist of reducing the height of the glass area by filing in with brick <br />wh%ch iaill match the existing, one third of this glass will be reflective, <br />and relocating the center doors to the east side of the unit. The <br />internally i1luminated sign will be on the upper portion of the mans, <br />?rd <br />and is in several different colors. Acting Building Commissioner Sanker <br />advised that sign conforms to code. Mr. Gorris questioned how it was <br />deci_ded what signs go on th e higher part of the mansard. Mr. Carlisle, <br />representing Biskind Developemtn Company, explained that they are only <br />allowing-their major tenants to place signs above the sign area and have <br />no intention of allowing all signs there., Mrs. Kordish a resident, <br />questioned if the old shopping center is to be altered so that it is <br />the same as Plaza South and if this reflective glass is the mirrored <br />glass that is on Plaza South. She cautioned the Commission that people <br />are not happy with the appearance of Plaza South. Mr. Carlisle responded <br />that they are trying to keep renovations of these stores consistant with <br />the original shopping center, at present*,. and the glass is not the same <br />as that on Plaza South. Another resident, Mr.;Sharak, did not agree with <br />Mrs. Kordish and believed that this is a matter of personal opinion. <br />B. Gorris moved to refer the Rids "R" Us proposal to the Architectural <br />Board of Review, seconded b_y E. Traczyk, and unanimously approved. <br />3) Barlow Plaza Phase II, 30590 to 30594 Lorain Road <br />Proposal to add seeond phase of retail shopping center. <br />Mr. Draeger, architect, and Mr. and Mrse Hayden, owners, presented plans <br />for this phase explaining that it will?match the.present building exactly <br />and that the retention system and sewers were originally installed to <br />service the entire complex. There are.no tenants for ttiis phase. The <br />lots had been assembled previously. Chairman Burns questioned if the : - <br />drives to the rear of the building which are .13 feet at the narrowest <br />point conform to the code. Mr. Sanker stated that these are one -1ane
