{ PLANNING C0;"iISSION JUNE 23 &??`'*, 1987 PAGE 6 <br />8) Barlow Plaza, 30590 Lorain Road <br />Proposal to construct maintenance garage. <br />B. Acciarri,. architect, and Mr. and 1`irs. Hayden, owners, explained that <br />garage Will be used to house maintenance equipment and a workshop. <br />Building wi11 be wood irame covered with Texture 111, no lighting or <br />heating is planned and only the drivewap will be paved. Mr. Hayden <br />explained that the gariige and drive would be 4 feet lower than the <br />existing parking 1ot, tind they will be raising the grade, and he is <br />req_uesting not to pave the drive until after the fill has settled. <br />City Engineer Schaller stated that there should be enough room on <br />the site to make the transition down to the existing grade, if he <br />proposes to raise the Yrade there mav be a problem. This wi11 be <br />addressed in the gradinY plans by the Engineering Department. Garage <br />will prob ab ly not be vlgib le from Lorain Road, b ut the Commission <br />prefers to refer propo8gl to the Architectural Board of Review since <br />garage wi11 be only 60 feet from residential property to the rear. <br />B. Gorris moved to refc:r the Barlow-Plaza, 30590 Lorain Road to the <br />Architectural Board of $eview for their input, and to the Engineering <br />Denartment, seconded by E. Traczyk, and unanimously aporoved. <br />Chairman Burns announced that the meeting was recessed and would be resumed <br />tomorrow night, June 24th at 8•00 P.M. The meeting was recessed at 11:15 -D.m. <br />Chairman Bums reconvened the meeting at 8:00 p.m. June 24, 1987. Mrs. Traczyk <br />is no longer present and Mr. Morgan is pre-sent. <br />IV. NEW DEVELOPMENTS AND SUBDIVISIONS: <br />1) Rezoning_of Parcels =236-7_1-29 236--7--14, 2-36-7-16, 236-7-25, 236-7=159 <br />- <br />and 236-7-I7. <br />The parcels involved are located adjoLcent to the northwest corner of the <br />Brookpark Road - Columbia Road inter.eection, south of the Mitchell Drive <br />properties. The parcels are presently zoned "C" Residence and are proposed <br />to be changed to Multiple Residence T?istrict zoning. <br />Chairman Burns announced that the applicant has notified the Commission <br />that inadvertantly a number of parcels were not included in this request <br />and the developer is withdrawing, but w_nuld like the opportunity to ex- <br />plain, informally, the proposal to t13e residents who are present. <br />Mr. Justice, representi1tg the developer, Cardinal Industries, explained <br />that since -the rezoning would requiro a referendum, they--?ad been planning <br />to place the item on thO November ballot; however, since 3 parcels were <br />inadvertantly left off this request, they will h ave to place it on the <br />May ballot. He explainud t-hat Cardinal Industries is the second largest <br />building company in the United State@; they own and manage approximately <br />700 to 900 projects thrbughout the cPuntry, including apartment, motel, <br />and retirement faciliti.ts, including 6 retirement facilites five of - <br />which .are in Ohio: Cuyahuga Falls, Columbus, Findlay, and S.pringfield. <br />They believe that North Olmsted is afl ideal location for the west side <br />of this metropolitan aroa because of the proximity to Great Northern Mall, <br />. hospitals, and transportation. The development is.privaEety•fnnded; will <br />. be on 10 plus acres; coltsists of a oile story building which will be <br />compatible to the adj ac:ent=residential- area-; -and--will add little traffic
