Request 76 sq. ft. variance for garage <br />area to construct detached carport: Violation of Ord. 62-33, Section 1151+.04C. <br />Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Board. The oath <br />was administered to Mr. Bower who explained that carport will be detached <br />from the garage since he wou].d like to save a large tree next to the <br />garage. This is an exceptionally large lot. C. Remmel moved to.grant <br />the 76 square foot variance for garage area to construct a detached carport <br />for Mr. Frederick C, Bower, 5965 Louis Dr., seconded by R. Gomersall, and <br />unanimous.ly approved. Variance granted. <br />6. Kenneth Gibel, 4683 Martin Dr. <br />' Reque.st s.pecial permit to add to non-conforming dwelling (front set b ack <br />and side yard). Special permission required Ord. 62-33, Section 1231.02. <br />Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Board. The oath <br />was administered to 1Kr. Orlowski, a neighbor, and Mr.. Gibel. Board has <br />no': questions or objections pertaining to request. R. Gomersall moved <br />to grant the special permit to add to non--conforming dwelling (front set <br />back and side yard) to Mr, Kenneth Gibe.l, 4683 Martin Drive, seconded by <br />J. Helon, and unanimously approved. Speeial permit granted. <br />7, Speedy Muffler King, 4565 Great Northern Blvd. <br />Request for.variance -(:1133.13). Request 38 square foot variance for ad- <br />diti.on:to pole sign and 93 square foot variance for to.tal sign area (53 <br />square feet over allowed area at p.resent). Violation of Ord. 62-33, <br />Section 1221.06. <br />Chairman Remmel calTed all interested parties before the Board. The oath <br />was adminis,tered to Mr. Flatico and Mr. Dominick of Speedy Muffler King. <br />They explained that the changealile copy sign is to be add to their exist- <br />ing pole sign to advertise specials. They believe that this is good for <br />the consumer since.it cuts down on advertising costs. Since they are <br />ovez thei.z tvtal allowed sign area now, it was suggested that they could <br />remove some pf their existing signage. R. Bugala moved to grant the <br />38 square foot vari.ance for an addition to the pole sign and.a 93 square <br />fpot vari.ance for the total sign area for Speedy Muffler King at 4565 <br />Gre3t Noxthern Blvd, seconded by C. Remmel. Roll call on motion: Bugala, <br />Remmel, Gomersall, and He1on, no. Motion failed to pass. Variance denied. <br />Mr. Dominick quest3oned if they could install a 19 square foot changeable <br />copy sign on the building. They.were advised that they could request a <br />vaxiance for that, however; it was pointed out that they are still over the <br />total sign area allowed. <br />8: John and Cheryl Steele., 4989 Lansing Dr. <br />Request for variance (1133.13). Request 2 foot.side yard variance for <br />swimming pool. Violation of Ord. 62-33, Section 1151.04.: <br />Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Board. The oath <br />was.administered to Mr. and Dirs. Steele who explained that.the pool cannot <br />be placed under the electrial wires which run down the middle of their <br />property. Moving the wires is extremely costly.- Mr. Steel pointed ouf <br />th at there is a public walkway on the other side of his property and since
