ARCHI.TECTURAL BpARD OF REVIEW JUNE 22, 1988 PAGE 2
wi.11 be more intense? canopies will be burgandy (rAstrup) and railings
will match; and the signs will also be burgandy and white with some
blue. Mr. Carlisle presented a revised plan showing panelized con-
struction and explained that this would be necessary because of the
time of the year that they would be building. He also submitted a
revised landscape plan explaining that the present landscaping will
be used in this aream pin oaks, seedless ash, pink flowering crab
and that the existing landscaping at the entrance will be increased
with evergreens and plants. Mr. Zergott suggested installing a fence
and gate on the dumpster area so that it will be entirely enclosed.
Mr. Galla.gher has concerns since the dumpster is not on a lower level
and there is no raised loading docks. He will visit the existing
hotel in Beachwood to study this. It was clarified that the rooms
would be serviced with through the wall air conditioning units, but
some mechanical units would be on the roof, and would be screened by
the three foot high parapet. B. Zergott moved to accept the proposal
by the Honors Hotel with the addition of the enclosed rubbish area,
seconded by T. Gallagher9 and unanimously approved.
2) Church of St. Clarence, 30106 Lorain Road
Proposal to add church to existing activit,y center.
Heard by the Board of Zoning Appeals June 8, 1988.
Referred by Planning Commission June 14, 1988.
Mr. Zarzycki, architect, presented model of the church with a covered
walkway and explained that there would be an outdoor, landscaped chapel
on the east. The church will be brick, probably to match the existing
brick on the activity center, roof shingles will match the existing,
and the trim will probably be stone. He explained that since they are
using a larger brick on the church than those on the center, they are
not sure if they are going to try to match it exactly or use a compat-
ible color, and at this time he is mainly looking for a concept approval.
They are also considering some additional brick treatment on the activity
center. Roo.f top mechanical units will be behind the church roof and
would not be visible. The dumpster will be screened. He presented a
preliminary landscape plan and explained they will also be screening
the outdoor chapel area with pines. Mr. Zergot suggested that they
eliminate the holly, change the gold vickery to an evergreen type
material and advised that there should be more detail on the terrace
plants. The post lights will probably be Spaulding Lighting sculptura
model and all lights will be directed down. Mr. Zarzycki will return
next month with more definite and detailed plans.
3) T.G.I. Friday's, 5200 Great Northern Mall
Proposal to construct greenhouse addition on existing patio area.
Referred from Planning Commission June 14, 1988.
Mr. McDonough, architect, presented color rendering expl"aining that the
existing patio, one awning, and railing will be removed and the area
enclosed with a greenhouse addition. He presented a cut away sample of
the enclosure which has clear glass, bronze frames, and an interior
fabric shade in beige which rolls down between the two section of glass.
He presented one set of revised plans which shows the 30 inch high brick
