BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS OCATOBER 5, 1988 PAGE 3 the plans. Law Director Gareau stated that there did not seem to be too much difference between this proposal and a joint use of facilities. C: R_emmel moved to grant the request for a variance for 37 parking spaces less than required for McDonald's restaurant, this variance request is based on:the plan submitted which must be adhered to and with the restrictions placed on the hall as stated, seconded by J. Helon, and unanimously approved. Variance granted. 6. Keith Jewelers, 26117. Great Northern Shopping Center Request for variance (1123.12). Request 23.05 square foot variance for sign area. Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1163.06(d). Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Board. The aath was administered to Mr. Dumbrowski and Mr. Shanks, sign contractors, who explained that this is a small store front in between two large units and if they put up a smaller sign it would be out of place. R. Gomersall moved to grant the request for a 23.05 square foot variance for sign area for Keith Jewelers, 26117 Great Northern Shopping Center, seconded by J. Helon, and unanimously approved. Variance granted. 7. Jim and Chuck's Boot 3hop, 25961 Great Northern Shopping Center " Request for variance (1123.12). Request 7,5 square foot variance for sign area. Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1163.06(d). Mr. Dumbrowski and Mr. Shanks had been sworn in previously, Board had no problem with this request. R. Bugala moved to grant the 7.5 square foot varianGe for sign area for Jim and Chuck's Boot Shop,-25961 Great Northern Shopping Center, seconded by R. Gomersall, and unanimously approved. Variance granted. 8. Wayne McY.ee, 6785 Chadbourne Dr. Request for variance (1123.12). Request location variance for tool shed (note: building permit issued for conforming location, but shed not installed). Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1135,02(4)3,B&C. Request was withdrawn by applicant. 9. Christie's Pub, 26116 Lorain Road Request for variance (1123,12). Request variances to replace faces iri existing pole sign: second pole sign on pronerty; location of pole sign (6 foot ericroach- ment into right of way): and 62.36 square foot variance for total sign area. Violation of Ord, 87-93, Section 1163:06(d), (f)-4 and (b)-4. Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Board: The oath was administered to Mr. Klinger, representing Christie's. Mr. Remmel observed that this is a small property with two pole signs. Mr. Klinger explained that the sign had been there for years and he merely wants to change the faces. Mr. Conway advised that if the name was not being chariged no variance would have been required. Mr. Klinger stated he could not afford to move the sign so he probably would have to change the name back to the original. J. Helon moved to grant the reqest to replace faces in existing pole sign; for a second pole sign on property; for the location of nole sign (6 foot encroachment into right of way; and for a 62.36 square foot variance for total sign area for Christie's Pub, seconded by R. Bugala. Roll call on motion: Helon, Bugala, Gomersall, and Remmel, no. Motion failed to pass. Variance denied.
