Mr. Sherba does not know if <br />Kronheim's has. received permission from the owner of the.center. B. Grace <br />moved to grant the request for a variance to locate a temporary sign which <br />is an inflatable balloon on building during the grand opening at 5198 Plaza <br />South for Kronheims with three riders: 1) that lights will be turned off when <br />store closes; 2) t.hey.must provide the city with the certificate of insurance, <br />and 3) they must submit a letter from Biskind Development Company, seconded <br />by J. Helon. Roll call on motion: Grace, Helon, Gomersall, and Remmel, yes. Mr. Bugala, no. Motion carried. Variance granted. <br />13.. Jeffrey W. Steed, 6234 Columbia Road (Hear.d at this point) <br />Request special permit to construct additions on non-conforming dwelling <br />(front setback). Special permission required Ord. 87-93, Section 1165.02. <br />Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before.the:Board: The oath was <br />administered to Mr. Steed. Board has,no problem with the request. Mr. Remmel <br />stated that this will be an improvement. R. Bugala moved to grant the special <br />permit to construct additions to non-conforming dwelling (front setback) to <br />Jeffrey W. Steed at 6234 Columbia Road, seconded by C. Remmel, and unanimously <br />approved. Special.permit granted: 12. Suburban Auto Body, 4960 Dover Center Road Request for variance (1123.12). Request .11 foot set back variance from <br />Dover Center Road and,20 foot set back variance from Mill Road to construct <br />addition. Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1139.04. Also request 4 foot <br />variance for landscape buffer. V.iolation of Ord. 87-93, Section-1161.10(e). <br />Also request special permit to add to non-conforming.building. Special <br />Permission required Ord. 37-93, Section 1165.02. <br />Chairman Remmel called all interested parties before the Board. The'oath was <br />administered to Councilmen Tallon and McKay; Mr. Papotto, owner, and Mr. <br />Kanareff, builder,.who explained that they,plan to construct a small addition <br />to expand the existing office and are trying to bring the existing non- <br />conforming building and property up to code as much as possible. Mr. Bugala <br />believed that this site is over developed. Mr. Grace pointed out that the <br />Planning Commission seemed to have positive feelings about these variances. <br />Mr. Kanareff expl'ained that there is some landscaping on part of the Mill <br />Road property and there are some hedges and,trees that will remain. Mr. <br />Bugala stated that car bumpers will go over the three foot planting strip and <br />the landscaping will die. It was sugges.ted that tire stops could.be installed. <br />Mr. Papotto explained that he is squaring off and refacing the building and <br />the parking and the planter are being installed at the direction o.f the City. <br />Councilman Tallon also believed that the site is over developed, maintaining <br />that wrecked.cars are still being parked in-front of the building and the <br />fence on Mill Road. He pointed out that the variance for the fence was granted <br />on the basis that all wrecked cars were to be placed behind it. He stated <br />that these front spaces are not storage spaces,,they a.re parking spaces and <br />urged the developer to s:tore the damaged cars out of sight', not in public view. <br />Mr. Helon stated that with these new improvements this business will be much <br />better looking than some other similar establishments both on this street and . <br />on Lorain Road. Mr: Gomersall agreed. Mr. Papotto stated that most of the <br />wrecked cars are out of sight, and he has had many compliments on what he has <br />done on the property recently. B.
