The oath was <br />admiriistered to Mr. Harouff, representing the P2ay Company, who explained that <br />they are putting their new logo on aIl their stores. i-ir. Bugala would like <br />some clarification of the proposal since all he was given was a copy.of the <br />sign. A plan showing the sign changes on all elevations was submitted. <br />Mr. Harouff explained that the existing three signs on the exterior of the <br />building would be changed and pointed'out that the building had been expan- <br />ded since the.se-. signs were first installed. Members had no problem with the <br />request. J. Helon moved to grant the 109.5 square foot variance for total <br />sign area to install new wall signs at the May Company, 25801 Great Northern <br />Mall, seconded by T. Restifo, and unanimously approved. Variance granted. <br />5. William Felder, 5641 Columbia Road <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 6 i.nch iheight variance for fencF.in side <br />setback. Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1135.02-H-(1). <br />Chairman Bugala called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. Felder who explained that he lives on the corner and <br />wants to install a split rail fence on the Cedar Point Road side of his lot <br />down into the front setback on Columbia Road and it will be 6 inches off <br />the property line. 'Members had no problem with the request. R. Gomersall <br />moved to grant a-6 inch height variance for a fence in the side set ba.ck for <br />Mr. William Felder, 564T Columbia Road, seconded by J. Helon, and unanimously <br />approved. Variance granted. <br />6. Frankie's Pizza, 4641-4635 Great Northern Boulevard. <br />Request For variance (1123.12). Request 74.3 square foot variance for total <br />sign area and variance to install second ground sign on property. Violation <br />of Ord. 87-93, Section 1163.06(d) and (b)-2. <br />Chairman Bugala called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. and Mrs. Fusco, owners, who explained that they have en- <br />larged and remodeled the restaurant and new customers cannot find them•on <br />Great Northern Boulevard. Air. Bugala stated that he does have an objection <br />since there is one ground sign and a pole sign on the property at present. <br />He pointed out that across the street there is a pole or ground sign for every <br />other business. Mr. Gomersall suggested that they could probably get a bigger <br />insert on the shopping center sign since they have two units. Mrs. Fusco did <br />not believe that there was room left on the sign and it would still be too <br />small. Mr. Fusco stated that they cannot compete with other restaurants <br />when customers drive past their restaurant and go on to another. J. Helon <br />moved to grant the variance for 74.3 square foot for total sign area and a <br />variance to install a second ground sign on the property for Frankie's Pizza, <br />4461 and 4635 Great Northern Boulevard, seconded by T. Restifo. Roll call on <br />Motion: Helon, Restifo, yes. Gomersall and Bugala, noo Motion failed to <br />pass. Variance denied. <br />7. Aquasonic Car Wash, 28800 Lorain Road . <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 16.18 sq. ft. variance for area of <br />one side of pole sign. Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1163.06-(f)2. <br />Chairman Bugala called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Mr. Attwood and-his son, the owners, who explained that they <br />would like to put the car wash sign on their pole sign since their wall signs <br />are not visible from traffic approaching from the east.
