After some discussion, the <br />members agreed that the off site sign addresses the set back of the building <br />and would prefer that both of the signs be smaller. Chairman Bugala suggested <br />that they delay this until later in the meeting in order to calculate the <br />exact variance required for the smaller signs. R. Bugala moved to delay this <br />request until we have heard another case, seconded by J. Helon, and unanimously <br />approvedo Continued until later in the meeting. <br />2. Days Inn (formerly Columbia Terrace), 24399 Lorain P.oad <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 59 square foot variance for area of <br />pole sign. Also request variance for 1 ft. 7z inch encroachment into set back <br />area. Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1163.06(f)4. Also request variance for <br />second pole sign on same property: Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1163.06(b)4. <br />Chairman Bugala called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to Ms. Storer, sign contractor, and A. Patel, representing Days <br />Inn who explained that the top portion of the existing sign would be removed <br />(inclucling the flashing arrow) and the same :pole used to install a standard <br />Days Inn sign which is substantially smaller than the old sign. There is another <br />pole sign for the existing Golden Ox Restaurant which is on the same property. <br />J. Helon moved to grant the variances for Days Inn (formerly Columbia Terrace), <br />24399 Lorain Road: a 59 square foot variance for area of pole sign; also a <br />variance for 1 foot 712-inch encroachment into the set back area; and a variance <br />for a second pole sign on the same property, seconded by T. Restifo, and unani- <br />mously approved. Variances granted. <br />3. Columbia Cornerstone (Romp Plaza), 24579 Lorain Road <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 13.3 square foot variance for addition <br />to pole sign. Violation of Ord. 87-93, Section 1163.06(f)-4. <br />Chairman Bugala called all interested parties before the Board. The oath was <br />administered to W. and.R. Romp, the owners, who explained that the sign addition <br />would accommodate the names of six new tenants and theCornerstone logo on the <br />top; there will be 10 inches added to the top of the existing Drug Mart sign <br />and 18 inches on the bottom. Members have no.problem with the proposal. R. <br />Gomersall moved to grant the request for a 13.3 square foot variance for an <br />addition to a pole sign for Columbia Cornerstone (Romp Plaza), 24579 Lorain Road, <br />seconded by J. Helon, and unanimously approved. Variance granted. <br />1. Hills Department Store, 26666 Brookpark Road Ext. (Resumed at. this point). <br />Building Commissioner Conway explained that including the 49 square foot <br />variance that was received previously they would need a variance of 51 square <br />feet for total sign area to install the smaller logo on both the front and the <br />side.of the building. Members have no problem with that. J. Helon moved to <br />grant the request of Hills Department Store at 26666 Brookpark Road Extension <br />for a 51 square foot variance for total sign area to install wall signs (the <br />smaller version), seconded by T. Restifo, and unanimously approved. Variance <br />granted. <br />4. H. R. Anderson, 5543 Porter Rd. <br />Request for variance (1123.12). Request 532 square foot variance for garage <br />area,in order to construct addition to existing detached garage. Violation of <br />Ord. 87-93, Section 1135.02(c)1.
